Job Descriptions:

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of operative patients on the morning of the operation or preoperative glaucoma medications, measurement of blood pressure, IOP, and marking of the operative eye.
  • Guiding operational or inpatient patients about the actions that they should do or avoid doing before or after the operation and during their treatment period.
  • How to use medicines and how to keep their eyes clean and making sure that the patients or their caregivers have received and understood the instructions.
  • Checking the patients' cards to see if their examinations have been completed.
  • Performing anesthetic procedures, especially local ones.
  • Cooperation with the surgeon in local anesthetics in a certain way.
  • Care of patients after surgery.
  • Recording findings related to general anesthesia in the relevant sheet and informing the surgeon if there are any abnormal results.
  • Ensuring proper cleanliness and hygiene of operation theater every day before starting work.
  • Banning and forcing all personnel to observe the issues related to the sterility of the home operation (including doctors) by wearing all the components of the home operation uniform such as: clothes, hats and masks and preventing them from carrying jewelry. Prohibition of any consumption of food in the operation of the house.
  • Maintaining the operating room's systems based on a regular list and reporting to the manager about deficiencies and devices that need repair.
  • Checking the sterilization of surgical equipment in the operating room that has been properly sterilized.
  • Checking, washing, drying and cleaning surgical instruments in cooperation with the sterilizer.
  • Ensuring the settings of the site of sterile essential equipment for emergency situations and providing sutures and other necessary materials for operations.
  • Preparation for possible anesthetic complications in any event.
  • Being sure of the existence of a sufficient stock of emergency drugs, necessary equipment and systems in a suitable manner (such as section machine, oxygen balloon, etc.)
  • Maintaining a sufficient stock of consumables in home operations.
  • Accurate recording of operational materials and sterilization inventory.
  • Reporting the list of operational patients after the end of the operation every day.
  • Delivery of consumables to the warehouse in the specified sheet.
  • Assisting other departments such as Treatment Room, vision determination, pharmacy if necessary.
  • Registering information related to operational patients in the home operation register or the relevant computer during free time.
  • Ensuring proper bandages for operative patients.
  • Making sure of proper sterilization of equipment needed in home operations.
  • Regular checking of the stock of emergency drugs and ordering and making sure that there is enough of the needed drugs.
  • Appropriate follow-up of protocols to prevent the spread of infection for patients (specifically in the case of infectious patients such as HBS).
  • Taking care of operational sites and equipment related to the sterilization branch in a serious manner.
  • Each experienced employee is responsible for cooperating and training subordinate employees, OTTP students and other persons outside the program who come for training.

Job Requirements:

  • Successful completion of nursing and anesthesia educational programs and having a valid academic degree.
  • At least three years of anesthesia nurse experience in the eye hospital.
  • Sufficient experience in Scrub and Circulating section in operation theater.
  • Sufficient experience in local and general anesthesia for eye surgery.
  • Familiarity with eye surgery processes and equipment.
  • Sufficient experience in sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • Sufficient experience in the management of hospitalized patients.
