About WSTA:

Funded by UNHCR, Watan’s Social and Technical Services Association (WSTA) is implementing the Community-Based Protection Monitoring, Community Engagement, Rapid Household Needs Assessment, Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms, and Distribution of CRI/NFI projects in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, Farah and Nimroz provinces of Western Region, Afghanistan. WSTA has 32 years of progressive experience in protection (general protection, GBV, child protection, HLP, civil documentation, etc.), shelter, food security, nutrition, WASH, health and education in different parts of the country. With a dedicated and professional management team, WSTA is committed to provide humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable population in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities

  1. Community Engagement and Mobilization:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with local communities, leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure active participation in project activities.
    • Organize and conduct community meetings, focus group discussions, and awareness-raising sessions.
    • Encourage inclusive participation, with a focus on engaging women, youth, and marginalized groups.
  2. Information Dissemination:
    • Provide accurate and timely information to communities about WSTA’s programs, services, and objectives.
    • Ensure beneficiaries are aware of available resources, complaint and feedback mechanisms, and their rights within the program.
  3. Complaint and Feedback Mechanism:
    • Act as the focal point for receiving complaints and feedback from beneficiaries and community members.
    • Document and report all complaints to the designated team for resolution while maintaining confidentiality and neutrality.
  4. Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Collect and document relevant data during outreach activities, such as beneficiary needs, community challenges, and feedback on project interventions.
    • Submit accurate and timely reports to the Regional Coordinator or Program Manager on outreach activities and observations.
  5. Collaboration with Field Teams:
    • Work closely with field staff, project officers, and local partners to ensure alignment of outreach activities with project goals.
    • Support field teams in identifying beneficiaries for project interventions based on established criteria.
  6. Conflict Resolution and Advocacy:
    • Mediate and resolve any conflicts or misunderstandings that arise during community engagement activities.
    • Advocate for community needs and challenges to the program team to ensure interventions address local priorities.
  7. Monitoring and Evaluation Support:
    • Assist in monitoring project implementation at the community level and provide feedback on progress and challenges.
    • Participate in field visits and evaluations to assess the impact of project activities on target communities.
  8. Travel and Outreach Coordination:
    • Conduct regular visits to Ghor, Badghis, Farah, and Nimroz provinces to ensure effective community outreach and engagement in those areas.
    • Coordinate logistics and resources needed for successful outreach activities in remote and challenging locations.
  9. Gender-Sensitive Outreach:
    • Ensure outreach activities are gender-sensitive and promote equal participation of men and women in project initiatives.
    • Work closely with female beneficiaries to address their specific needs and challenges in accessing project resources.
  10. Adherence to WSTA Policies:
    • Follow WSTA’s code of conduct, safeguarding policies, and humanitarian principles in all interactions with communities and stakeholders.
    • Maintain neutrality and professionalism while representing WSTA in all community engagements.

Job Requirements:

Holding a High School Degree or Bachelor's Degree
2 Experience working with national or international NGOs Preferably in the Protection Sector
Fluent in Dari and Pashto languages- intermediate knowledge of English Language (High level is a plus point)
Familiarity or ability to operate the KOBOToolbox
