About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scars resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization which will deliver to and support significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in last few years, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Balkh, Bamyan, Daykundi, Farah, Herat, Jouzjan, Kabul, Kandahar, Kunduz, Laghman, Nangarhar, Paktia, Takhar, and Wardak provinces.

Job Descriptions:

The Education Specialist plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's educational programs and learning materials. This position is responsible for conducting research, developing curricula, formulating education strategies, and creating engaging learning resources tailored to target audiences. Core duties include identifying education needs, mapping program frameworks, writing program content, managing projects, forging community partnerships, monitoring program effectiveness, and reporting on progress.

Job Description:

  • Conducting research and needs assessments to inform the development of culturally-relevant curricula, programs, and materials.
  • Designing engaging learning resources for diverse audiences based on best practices in instructional design.
  • Building the capacity of educators through targeted coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Deploying education initiatives and supporting their rollout through ongoing training and communication.
  • Cultivating collaborative relationships and partnerships with schools, government agencies, and community leaders.
  • Monitoring program implementation through observation, feedback, surveys, testing, and other methods.
  • Leading participatory evaluations and learning reviews to inform program improvements.
  • Preparing insightful reports, presentations, and communication on education programs.
  • Staying updated on emerging research, technologies, and best practices in local and global education.
  • Modeling a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence in educational programming.
  • Assisting the Executive Team in developing project concept notes, proposals, and strategic and programmatic documents.
  • Ensuring the quality implementation of education activities such as Community Based Education (CBE), School Improvement Plan (SIP), and Education First Phase Response (EFPR).
  • Participating in community mobilizations and sensitizations to increase community participation in project implementation.
  • Conducting regular monitoring of project implementation, with a focus on CBE classes and SIP activities.
  • Establishing and maintaining child-friendly spaces and a conducive learning atmosphere in all CBE classes.
  • Providing support to CBE teachers in their professional and academic life.
  • Ensuring that all required teaching and learning materials are provided and available in CBE classes and relevant public schools.
  • Providing specific technical support, analysis, and feedback to ACDO representatives in coordination forums.
  • Reviewing, verifying, contributing to reports, and providing a summary of improvements, challenges, and gaps to the education team leader/coordinator.
  • Advocating for the program and beneficiaries by developing case studies/success stories.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships and coordinating activities with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and relevant school officials.
  • Conducting capacity building trainings for CBE teachers and school management shura (SMS) members.
  • Preparing agendas for trainings and meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Facilitating the handover process of CBE classes to hub schools and ensuring all required documents are provided.
  • Assisting in budget estimations and raising Purchase Requests (PRs) for project events.
  • Implementing the plan of action for assigned Education projects, including activities, budgeting, and project documentation.
  • Assessing, promoting, and documenting ideas for technical improvement and program development options.
  • Coordinating with support unit staff on recruitments, procurements, contracts, payments, and stock management.
  • Supporting the senior management team (SMT) in the overall implementation of project components and other assigned tasks.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Management
  • Master degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor degree with 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required
  • Experience in proposal development will be a plus point

Skills:

  • Microsoft Office - Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for writing reports, analyzing data, creating presentations, email communications, etc.
  • Web Conferencing - Skills using Zoom, Teams, Google Meet for delivering remote trainings and virtual meetings.
  • Data Analysis - Familiarity with tools like SPSS, R, Python for analyzing student assessments, survey results, etc.
  • Google Workspace - Proficiency with G Suite apps for collaborative documents, sheets, emails.
  • Database Skills - Experience with database management platforms to organize educational content
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
