Medair is an international humanitarian organization established in 1988. Medair has been operating in Afghanistan since 1996 with programs mainly in the Health, Water & Sanitation, and Livelihoods sectors with significant reconstruction activities in remote areas. Current projects are Water & Sanitation, Food Security, & Disaster Risk Reduction.
An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Tirinkot district. The project intends to improve and extend WASH services including water supply infrastructure and hygiene practices to improve outcomes for vulnerable families.
An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Uruzgan, which has been significantly affected by drought and conflict conditions. Building upon Medair’s decades of experience in the Central Highlands and Kandahar, the project intends to improve and extend the utilization of lifesaving preventive and curative nutrition and health services by mothers, PLWs, and children U5; to increase access to clean water, to reduce vulnerability to water-related and other preventable diseases, and to improve and increase food security for the most vulnerable families through food voucher distributions.
Overall Purpose:
The MD, as senior clinical lead of the Returnees Response Team, is responsible for delivering integrated health and nutrition services to the returnees. This includes providing outpatient consultations for women, men, and children while supporting midwives and nurses to ensure the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with national guidelines and best practices.
The role involves overseeing the implementation of key services such as Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI), reproductive health services—including antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), and family planning (FP)—as well as injury and trauma care., Additionally, establishing and maintaining effective referral pathways is also a critical part of the role, aimed at strengthening connections between project locations and existing secondary or tertiary health care facilities.

Education: Graduate from recognized medical faculty BPHS /PHC related training, IMNCI, RH, Immunization in Practice training, Master Degree Preferred. Pediatrician, RMNCH, IMNCI and RH trainer is desirable.
Relevant experience:
Languages: Pashto oral and written skills, Good command of English.
Computer: Strong MS Excel, MS Word and ODK, Proficiency data analysis and reporting and Familiar with DoPH, PHC, and HMIS reporting.
Organizational capacity: Ability to organize a static health facility efficiently and orderly, coordinating team members and beneficiaries, identifying bottlenecks, and providing solutions. Ability to work with community leaders to arrange clinic sites, access, and security.
Team building: Willingness to cover tasks of other team members when needed and Good training and coaching skills.
Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and Ability to plan work efficiently and delegate or fill gaps if needed.
Problem solving & initiative: Excellent problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented attitude and Able to recognize and resolve team conflicts productively.
