Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for community engagement and beneficiary mobilization for the Qurbani Project in the assigned province. They will work closely with local stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation, beneficiary identification, awareness, and coordination for Qurbani meat distribution activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Mobilize target communities and ensure active participation in the Qurbani program.
• Support in the identification and verification of eligible beneficiaries in coordination with community leaders and local authorities.
• Conduct awareness sessions with the community regarding the Qurbani process, schedule, and distribution mechanism.
• Maintain close communication with the project team and report daily activities.
• Support in managing the crowd and organizing the distribution site during Qurbani meat distribution.
• Facilitate transparency and community feedback mechanisms.
• Ensure proper documentation including attendance sheets, beneficiary lists, and distribution records.
• Immediately report any issues, complaints, or delays to the Field Coordinator.
• Promote IRAF’s code of conduct, safeguarding, and protection principles throughout the implementation.
• Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in social science, BBA, Public Awareness, and another relevant field.

Experience:

• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in community mobilization or humanitarian projects.
• Strong understanding of the local context and ability to work respectfully with different communities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with beneficiary selection, awareness raising, and field-level implementation.
• Fluent in Dari and/or Pashto depending on the province; basic understanding of English is an asset.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field as required.
