About MMRCA:

Background Information:

The Medical Management and Research Courses for Afghanistan (MMRCA) is a national, non-for profit, non-political, humanitarian organization established in March 2008 by Afghan Health Professionals and is registered as an NGO with the ministry of economy (MoE) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

MMRCA has been implemented SEHAT-II, SEHAT-III and SEHATMANDI (BPHS+EPHS) Projects in Ghazni, Badghis and Faryab provinces. Currently MMRCA awarded the Health Emergency Response Projects Badghis, Samangan and Sar- e-Pul from 1st February 2023 until 29st Feb2024 for Badghis province and until 31th March 2025 for Samangan and Sar-e-Pol provinces. Currently MMRCA contracted HER-2 project extension period for both provinces (Samangan and Sar-e- Pol provinces up to end of Dec-2026 for eighteen months.

Through HER Samangan project MMRCA has been providing quality health services to the entire population of the province according to BPHS and EPHS guidelines and MoPH policies/ strategies.  These services are providing through 3 DHs, 4 CHCs, 14 BHCs, 21 Sub-centers, 1MHT and prison health center, Similarly, Sar-e-Pul has a total of 71 HFs including 3-DHs, 9 CHCs, 20 BHCs, 32 PHCs, one MHT, 5 FHHs and one Prison Health Center.

MMRCA invites and encourage eligible candidates to apply for the position of Backup Surgeon Specialist located at Sar-e-Pol province with travels to the District Hospitals.

Job Descriptions:

Responsibilities

  • Work instead of surgeon since on any shortage,
  • Conduct daily ward rounds for support to MDs, observation and review of patients.
  • Run specialist clinics on a regular basis.
  • Regularly monitor patients' progress and provide documentation.
  • Attend to emergency cases when necessary and be on 24 hrs. call.
  • Carry out routine and emergency surgical operations and other procedures.
  • Ensure complete daily documentation of patient case notes/files
  • Ensure complete discharge, referral and feedback procedures for patients
  • Counsel patients and relatives on health management.
  • Maintain regular contacts with heads of other departments to ensure harmonization of patients' management.
  • Review and develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients' health care to formulate best practice guidelines based on BPHS/EPHS.
  • Ensure timely availability of required support services in the process of treating patients, particularly when referred to other specialists.
  • Liaise with other consultants on handling specialized cases in provision of patients' health care.
  • Prepare timely and accurate medical reports, audits and mortality reviews.
  • Ensure medical records activities are effectively implemented
  • Teach other health care providers/MDs about specific techniques of medicine services.
  • Ensure effective management of surgical wards and Surgical OPD clinic.
  • Observe and comply with environmental health, occupational safety and Infection Prevention measures and regulations.
  • Availability in the night duties as scheduled.
  • Observe any situation for preventing infections.
  • Any other duties assigned by head of office

Professional Competencies:

  • MD Surgeon with Specialty Surgery Degree.
  • At least three years of experience in hospital in relevant field.
  • Excellent communication Skill.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and to work effectively with staff of Hospital.
  • Be proactive and take initiatives and work independently.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within MMRCA and amongst beneficiaries served by MMRCA.

Job Requirements:

Surgeon MD/ Specialty Degree (Preferred).

Fluent in Dari and Pashtu and working Knowledge of English.
