In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters.  HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland.

HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach.

HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.

Job Descriptions:

  • Supervise mental health and disability activities of health facilities, guide the health care providers and provide the support needed.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient implementation of mental health and disability activities in accordance with policies and guidelines of BPHS/MOPH.
  • Frequent visits to health facilities and assessment of the progress of mental health and disability activities according to the set work plan and point out the critical activities that are not progressing according to the work plans
  • Use mental health checklists and questionnaires to ass’s mental health and disability activities of the project and health facilities
  • Actively participate in joint monitoring visits and submit reports.
  • Ensure proper referral system, follow up and provide feedback.
  • Conduct regular supervisory visits and provide on the job training and guidance.
  • Provide monthly activity plan and report to supervisor.
  • Collect data and develop monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain close working relations with all staff and departments
  • Participate in coordination meetings/workshops at provincial level as required.
  • Encourage teamwork amongst the staff of health facilities.
  • Ensure that all reports of the health facilities in connection to mental health and disability are correct, prepared on time and submitted to field office.
  • Propose different capacity building programs / trainings for staff in order to improve the mental health and disability services.
  • Ensure that the referral system considers mental health and disability in all health facilities.
  • To perform other tasks required by the line manager.
  • The responsibilities of the position holder are not limited to the duties mentioned above, but carrying out any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated  from Medical recognized faculty (MD)
  • HMIS, M&E, mhGAP/ mental health
  • Minim 3 years expenses at similar position EPHS/BPHS
  • To know about MS, Office (word, excel, power point and internet
  • Training and facilitation skills
  • Monitoring and supervision skills
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with team
  • Knowledge of English (written spoken and understanding, Pashto or Dari.
  • Reporting writing skills, Problem-Solving Skills, Self-Motivation, Strong Interpersonal Skills and Critical Thinking Skills.
