Job Descriptions:

WASSA is extending a three-month emergency response project to support returnees in Herat province, including Islam Qala border and GTC. The project focuses on addressing urgent food security needs of vulnerable returnees through fortified biscuit (HEB) distribution and cash-for-food assistance and nutrition supplements.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the overall coordination, management, and supervision of returnee response interventions at the field level, ensuring timely and accountable food/cash assistance in line with humanitarian principles and organizational policies.

Job Requirements:

  • Lead and oversee the planning, organization, and execution of returnee response activities in the assigned area.
  • Ensure that food/cash distributions and SCOPE registrations are conducted in compliance with WFP guidelines and accountability standards.
  • Coordinate with WFP, government authorities, community representatives, and other humanitarian actors for smooth implementation.
  • Supervise field teams (distributors, enumerators, mobilizers, and SCOPE focal points).
  • Assign roles, monitor performance, and provide coaching and on-the-job support.
  • Ensure staff adhere to humanitarian principles, code of conduct, and safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure that affected populations are informed about entitlements, distribution schedules, and complaint mechanisms.
  • Facilitate proper record keeping, including daily report, beneficiary feedback, and incident reports.
  • Prepare timely and accurate field reports (distribution reports, online tracker platform, beneficiary feedback).
  • Identify challenges and propose solutions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Escalate protection concerns and ensure Do No Harm principles are applied.
  • Represent the organization in field-level coordination meetings.
