Job Descriptions:

To support the registration, identity management, and biometric verification processes of returnees and persons of concern at the Encashment Center, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with UNHCR standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Registration and Biometric Data Collection:
    • Conduct biometric data capture (fingerprints, facial recognition, iris scans) for refugees and persons of concern using the BIMS platform.
    • Verify biometric data to prevent duplication and ensure identity accuracy during registration and encashment procedures.
    • Assist in the issuance of registration documentation based on biometric verification results.
  • Data Quality and Integrity
    • Ensure high standards of data collection, entry, and management in line with UNHCR guidelines to maintain the integrity of biometric and registration data.
  • System Operation and Maintenance
    • Operate and maintain biometric equipment and software, ensuring functionalit.
    • Coordinate with management team and registration teams to resolve system errors or failures promptly.
  • Coordination and Reporting
    • Collaborate closely with HEWAD/UNHCR registration teams, protection team, and field staff to ensure smooth workflow and data sharing.
    • Prepare regular reports on biometric registration activities, challenges, and progress for supervisor.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality
    • Adhere strictly to UNHCR data protection policies, confidentiality, and ethical standards in handling personal and biometric data.
    • Ensure compliance with UNHCR’s operational procedures and guidelines related to identity management and biometrics.

Job Requirements:

  • Education in IT, data management, or related fields preferred.
  • Prior experience working with biometric systems, preferably in humanitarian or refugee settings.
  • Familiarity with UNHCR registration and identity management processes is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including database management and encountering basic biometric hardware/software.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment and maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
