The Senior Project Coordinator will be working under direct supervision of Country Director and will be working closely with other departments such Program, Finance, Operation and project team. The Sr PC is responsible for ensuring that all project activities are planned and effectively implemented according to project workplan (DIP). S/he will manage day-to-day project implementation and operational matters at Balkh, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces (Districts) and communities, overseas and build the capacity of project staff, externally represent the project and coordinate with key stakeholders including DoLSA, District Authorities, UN and INGOs and communities etc. Sr PC will prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans and reports and support the team in implementation and will also assist Program Development team in donor reports.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

• Develop a detailed implementation plan with the support from project team.
• Work closely with other project staff to facilitate and coordinate the project activities in both provinces.
• Provide technical support to project staff so that they are able to implement the project activities with quality and based on goal and objectives of the project.
• The Senior Project Coordinator will provide technical support to the team on Mine Risk Education (MRE) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE). Technical support includes, but is not limited to, reviewing and contextualizing MRE/EORE messages, training Community Mobilizers, and providing oversight for the EORE sessions conducted by the Community Mobilizers (CMs) and Child-Friendly Space (CFS) facilitators.
• Coordinate and follow up regularly with filed level staff for update status of program implementation and keep Deputy Country Director informed about any support/ troubleshooting required.
• Maintain open and professional relations with stakeholders, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable the project staff successfully perform in their role.
• Keep record of all required documents related to the project activities such as cash distribution, beneficiaries’ selection, distribution, and post distribution monitoring.
• Work closely with WCC procurement, finance, and HR to ensure timely procurement, payments and recruitment.
• Ensure adequate budget utilization through regular monitoring of BVA against the forecast and compliance.
• As the budget holder, ensure that the program’s budget has all appropriate plans (e.g., spending, procurement, budgeted activities), and that budget execution is tracked on a monthly basis – adjusting where necessary if activities are re-scheduled.
• Meet with delegated finance staff every month to track the budget and identify any potential red flags, resolving any budget challenges when necessary.
• In consultation with supervisor, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate project implementation and circulate the reports internally on the lessons learned and best practices.
• Maintain regular follow with project team and provide them with technical support and advice.
• Whenever assigned by Senior Management staff, conduct national level coordination with IEA, UN and INGOs.
• Report immediately on any malpractices and misconduct if found to Deputy Country Director.
• Proactively participate in professional development activities with strong commitment to learning knowledge and skills.
• Review and attest staff’s activities and transportation plans.
• Provide feedback on their daily activities, reports and checking their activities files.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the described responsibilities or of project.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Social Work, Law, or another relevant technical field.
• Master’s degree in relevant field will be preferred.

Experience:

• At least 8 Years of working experience with I/NGOs in project management in protection and mine action sectors.
• The individual must have MRE and EORE experience and be able to train staff and provide technical support.
• Ability to manage a large team and budge.
• Capacity to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong ability to work independently.
• Available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Skills and Abilities:

• Good Communication and interpersonal skills including reporting writing.
• Good knowledge of community development especially working with children, women and families.
• Excellent problem solving and presentation skills.
• Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meeting of deadlines.

• Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas and inhospitable environment.
