About Muslim Hands International:

Muslim Hands Afghanistan – MHA obtained formal registration from the Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan with registration No. 141 in 2005 and is now firmly established with its Headquarters in Kabul, and is fully engaged in relief and development activities in different parts of the country. The work of Muslim Hands in Afghanistan involves; improving the lives of poor and vulnerable through the provision of education, health, WASH, Protection, Livelihood, advocacy, Agriculture and other specialized projects e.g. rehabilitation of the disabled, water purification and sanitation schemes, orphan sponsorship scheme, income generation activities and emergency aid / relief activities in Afghanistan. Muslim Hands Afghanistan aims struggling its way to build a secured society through its core competencies including Health, WASH, Education, Emergency Relief, Food security, Livelihood and Protection. Muslim Hands Afghanistan was formed by a group of professionals and today it is blessed with +100 members include men, women and youth from different skill sets including medical professionals, Program and operation experts, and other professionals in non-profit sector. Muslim Hands Afghanistan is working under the effective leadership of nine national and international members of its board of trustees.

Job Descriptions:

1. Purpose of the Position

The Project Officer will support the effective implementation and coordination of the project’s livelihood recovery interventions, including tailoring skills training and livestock support for earthquake-affected communities in Chawkai and Nurgal districts of Kunar province. The role will assist the Project Manager in day-to-day execution, field coordination, monitoring, and reporting to ensure timely, high-quality, and accountable delivery of project activities in line with agreed objectives.

 

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Project Coordination and Implementation Support

  • Coordinate day-to-day field implementation of both project components in close collaboration with Tailoring Trainers and the Veterinary Officer.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of activity work plans, schedules, and field movements.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between technical staff, community structures, and local stakeholders.

B. Community Engagement and Beneficiary Coordination

  • Support transparent community mobilization and beneficiary selection processes in coordination with technical teams.
  • Act as a focal point between beneficiaries and project staff to address operational issues and feedback.
  • Promote inclusive participation of women and vulnerable earthquake-affected households.

C. Monitoring, Data Collection, and Reporting

  • Monitor project activities against agreed plans, timelines, and output indicators.
  • Collect, verify, and consolidate field data, including attendance records, livestock distribution records, training progress, and beneficiary feedback.
  • Prepare regular progress updates, field reports, and inputs for donor reporting under the guidance of the Project Manager.

D. Logistics and Operational Support

  • Coordinate with operations and procurement teams to support the timely delivery and distribution of project inputs, including tailoring equipment and livestock supplies.
  • Support tracking and proper use of project assets, materials, and supplies at field level.
  • Assist in organizing training sessions, distributions, meetings, and field assessments.

E. Quality Assurance and Technical Support

  • Support technical staff in maintaining quality standards for training delivery and livestock interventions.
  • Flag implementation challenges, risks, and gaps to the Project Manager and propose practical solutions.
  • Ensure cross-learning and coordination between the tailoring and livestock components.

F. Coordination and Compliance

  • Support coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant service providers as required.
  • Ensure project activities adhere to safeguarding, gender, accountability, and PSEA commitments.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, good practices, and success stories.

G. Administrative and Other Duties

  • Maintain organized project files and documentation at the field level.
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings and planning sessions.
  • Perform other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager in support of overall project objectives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, agriculture, development studies, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in project implementation with humanitarian or development programs, preferably in livelihood or recovery projects.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in field monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and vulnerable communities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality, accountability, and community-centered approaches.
