Hask Engineering Services is a privately owned engineering and construction company, officially registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Central Business Registry & Intellectual Property of Afghanistan in 2007, under License No. D-27174.

The company operates through its regional offices located in Kabul, Jalalabad, Kandahar, and Mazar-e-Sharif, with the capacity to establish additional offices in other provinces as required by project needs.

Hask Engineering Services & Builders was established in 2007 and initially commenced its operations as a Construction Materials Testing Laboratory. Over time, the company expanded its scope of services to include Project Survey and Design, Construction Works, Engineering Studies, and Professional Training Programs, responding to the growing needs of the engineering and construction sector in Afghanistan.

In addition to its technical services, Hask takes pride in publishing “The Civil Engineer”, the first technical and engineering magazine in Pashto and Dari in Afghanistan, contributing to knowledge sharing and professional development within the engineering community.

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for leading the structural design, review, and supervision of complex engineering projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and organizational quality requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

• MSc or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent professional registration is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, including leadership of complex projects.
• Strong technical expertise in the design of reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, and foundation systems.
• Proven experience with international and local design codes (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, BS, ASCE, seismic and wind codes).
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD, Tekla, Robot, or similar).
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and site practices.
• Ability to review, check, and approve structural calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
• Strong project management skills, including planning, coordination, and time management.
• Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities with experience guiding junior engineers and designers.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients.
• High level of professional ethics, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Lead the structural design and engineering of buildings and infrastructure projects from concept through construction.
• Develop and review structural design criteria, calculations, models, drawings, and specifications.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including architects, geotechnical, MEP, and construction teams.
• Provide technical guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting staff.
• Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and risk assessments.
• Resolve complex technical issues arising during design and construction stages.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with design intent.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, and stakeholders on technical matters.
• Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling from a structural engineering perspective.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and documentation for approvals and audits.
• Promote best practices in engineering quality, sustainability, and health & safety.
