About ANHDO
Afghanistan National Horticulture Development Organization (ANHDO) is a national non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization registered with the Ministry of Economy and established in April 2009. The development of ANHDO is part of the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) long term strategy for the development of horticulture sector in Afghanistan. Since then, ANHDO has developed into an important institution for horticulture development by comparing among other skilled and experienced Afghan professional organizations in the horticulture sector. ANHDO is operating in close coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) based on separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Hence, ANHDO is a corner stone of the long-term strategy for the development of the horticulture sector in Afghanistan.

Job Description
Position Summary
The MEAL Assistant (Female) will support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) functions within the PREVALE II project, with a particular focus on ensuring gender-sensitive monitoring and community engagement. She will assist in data collection, reporting, and accountability mechanisms, while ensuring that women’s voices and perspectives are adequately represented in project learning and decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Monitoring & Data Collection
- Assist in developing and implementing project monitoring tools and frameworks.
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data from field sites, including surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews, with a focus on engaging women and vulnerable groups.
- Support routine monitoring of project activities against indicators and targets.
- Ensure timely entry of data into databases and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct verification of the project activities through field visit in person and via Phone.
- Develop and manage the Kobo questionaries, translations, in the Kobo Toolbox builder online and offline via Xlsx. Coding
- Install, configure, download the Kobo collect with the Kobo Toolbox to ensure the offline data collection.
- Testing of the designed questionnaires for the validation and skip logic etc.
- Ensure the security and protection of Kobo Toolbox data by applying the appropriate security measures.
- Data cleaning, re-translation of the data from local language to the English language, analyzation and visualization through the market trends software and project requirements
2. Evaluation & Learning
- Assist in analyzing data to identify trends, challenges, and lessons learned, with attention to gender dimensions.
- Contribute to learning workshops and reflection sessions with project teams and communities.
- Document success stories, case studies, and best practices, highlighting women’s participation and impact.
3. Accountability
- Support the establishment and management of community feedback and complaint mechanisms.
- Ensure that women and marginalized groups are aware of and able to access reporting channels.
- Document and report feedback in line with safeguarding and accountability standards.
- Promote awareness among communities about their rights and available reporting mechanisms.
4. Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual MEAL reports.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational MEAL standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling project data and community feedback.
- Support safeguarding and gender-sensitive monitoring approaches.
Work Conditions
- Based in Kabul with frequent travel to project sites.
- Standard working hours with flexibility during surveys, evaluations, or reporting periods.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably with NGOs or development projects.
- Knowledge of MEAL frameworks, tools, and indicators.
- Strong skills in data collection, entry, and basic analysis.
- Experience in gender-sensitive programming and community engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of data analysis software is an asset.
- knowledge of sampling methodologies to support accurate and reliable data collection.
- Basic knowledge of the Power Bi dashboard design would be considered as a positive point.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; working knowledge of English preferred.
