About NSRDO
NSRDO is a youth-led organization founded in 2006, dedicated to empowering marginalized women, children, and people with disabilities across Afghanistan. We focus on uplifting vulnerable communities by addressing critical issues such as poverty, education, WASH, healthcare, and sustainable development. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance at a better future, we work tirelessly to provide resources, support, and hope to those in need.
We also work in food & security, agriculture, emergency relief, nutrition, peacebuilding, livelihood, community infrastructure, and the defense of human rights. NSRDO commenced its operations in 2005. Since then, NSRDO has been operating in Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan and has regional offices in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Bamyan, and Paktia Provinces, along with its head office in Kabul.
NSRDO was registered in the Ministry of Planning by decision no. (951) dated 25/6/1383 and entitled to work in the capital, Kabul, and other provinces. This is also reregistered in the Ministry of Economy by decision no. (598) dated 8/6/06. Additionally, the US Embassy, the European Commission, the Canadian Fund, UNPP, UNGM, MoLSA, MoMD, MoE, and MoPH all have NSRDO registered.
For over 20 years, we have collaborated with donors, volunteers, and partner organizations to create meaningful, lasting change. Our mission is to deliver immediate relief while implementing sustainable solutions that enhance the quality of life for future generations.
NSRDO operates solely in Afghanistan, aiming to transform itself into one of Afghanistan’s foremost- developed NGOs. Although it continues to respond to the needs of rural communities in order to improve their living condition and utilize the resource in a well and transparent manner. NSRDO endeavors to reach the most disadvantaged groups in Afghan society often under very difficult circumstances. Among those with whom NSRDO works are poor families, women, farmers, unemployed and the uneducated population across the country.

Job Description
Job Summary
The School Feeding Project Officer will report directly to the School Feeding Project Manager and will support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the School Feeding Project in Urozgan and Zabul Provinces. The Project Officer will work closely with communities, partners, and government stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of project activities in alignment with the objectives of the project.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing the School Feeding Project activities at the district and community levels, ensuring alignment with the project’s objectives and timelines.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, including community leaders, school authorities, and government representatives, to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Support field-based monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and analysis, to assess the environmental, educational, and socio-economic impacts of the project.
- Ensure that project activities are carried out in accordance with NSRDO policies, strategies, work plans, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of project activities and provide feedback to the Project Manager on any challenges or areas for improvement.
- Promote gender equality, human rights, and inclusive practices within project activities, ensuring non-discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.
- Ensure the principles of child safeguarding and the ‘do no harm’ approach are followed during the implementation of all project activities.
- Engage with communities to ensure transparency in beneficiary selection, service delivery, and participation in the planning and monitoring processes.
- Provide timely feedback on any conflicts or challenges encountered during project implementation and assist in resolving them in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with local stakeholders to build trust and ensure their active involvement in the project.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of weekly and monthly work plans for project activities.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports in line with NSRDO’s reporting requirements and share them with the Project Manager.
- Work closely with the M&E team to track progress, identify gaps, and ensure the project is on track to meet its objectives.
- Ensure proper documentation of project activities, including maintaining records of beneficiary data, distribution reports, and other relevant information.
- Collaborate with government departments, such as the Provincial Education Department (PED), District Education Department (DED), and Economy Department, to facilitate coordination and reporting at the provincial level.
- Assist in preparing logistical and financial plans for the project at the district level and ensure their timely implementation.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on the status of project activities and highlight any challenges or delays.
- Support the Project Manager in ensuring that field staff fulfill their responsibilities and that the School Feeding Program is implemented effectively in the assigned provinces.
- Uphold NSRDO’s child protection and safeguarding policies and ensure awareness and compliance among communities and stakeholders.
- Support the orientation and training of new field staff to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities within the project.
- Identify training needs for field staff and provide on-the-job support to improve their skills and performance.
- Assist in preparing monthly cash requests and financial documentation for project activities in coordination with the finance team.
- Ensure accurate and timely payments to contractors and service providers at the field level.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Project Manager or other relevant supervisors.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in project implementation with national or international NGOs.
- Proficiency in Pashto and Dari (reading, writing, and speaking); working knowledge of English is preferred.
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote districts and communities within Urozgan and Zabul Provinces.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments and under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities and government officials.
- Commitment to gender equality, child protection, and safeguarding principles.
- Basic knowledge of financial and logistical procedures is an asset.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
