Job Description

Job Summary :

The Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for supporting the nutrition activities and services, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and quality control of nutrition-related services. This includes providing direct supervision and technical guidance to nutrition staff, ensuring adherence to organizational standards, protocols, and donor requirements. The role involves supporting field activities, monitoring nutrition services, and supporting capacity building to strengthen team effectiveness. The Nutrition Supervisor also ensures timely reporting, problem-solving, and collaboration with other sectors to achieve integrated service delivery and optimal nutritional outcomes for the target population.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of standard nutrition services in health facilities in line with pubic nutrition department (PND) of MoPH guidelines.

  • Provide technical guidance and support for nutrition counselors, midwives and medical doctors and ensure standardized delivery of IYCF/MIYCN, GMP, and IMAM services.

  • Conduct regular supportive supervision, and on-the-job capacity building to health facility staff.

  • Ensure staff are trained, mentored, and consistently adhere to national protocols, SOPs, and guidelines.

  • Ensure continuous availability and proper management of nutrition supplies, consumables, IEC/BCC materials, and essential equipment, including stock tracking, and prompt reporting of shortages.

  • Strengthen nutrition data quality through accurate collection, validation, verification, and timely reporting in coordination with MEAL/HMIS and health facility staff.

  • Prepare and submit routine reports (weekly/monthly) ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.

  • Ensure the data entry of nutrition intervention in nutrition database of public nutrition department of MoPH

  • Support referral systems, defaulter tracing, and continuity of care for SAM/MAM cases through coordination with HF staff, CHS, and CHWs.

  • Participate in nutrition coordination meetings, trainings, workshops, and capacity-building activities at provincial levels, including Nutrition Cluster meetings.

  • Ensure availability and functionality of essential nutrition equipment and report unresolved gaps to the Project Manager.

  • Promote community engagement and case identification through collaboration with CHS, and CHWs.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education :

  • Medical Doctor graduated from a reconised university, Diploma in public nutrition from a recognized university will be preferred

  • Successfully passed the MoPH exit exam

Experience / Skills :

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as nutrition supervisor with national and international NGOs.

  • Solid knowledge of nutrition programming, including management of acute malnutrition (SAM/MAM), IYCF practices, micronutrient supplementation, and community-based nutrition interventions.

  • Strong understanding of nutrition assessment, screening, and classification tools such as MUAC, weight-for-height/length, and growth monitoring indicators.

  • Proficiency in nutrition data management, including routine reporting, data analysis, and use of nutrition information systems for monitoring program performance.

  • Good knowledge of national and international nutrition guidelines, protocols, and quality standards for treatment and prevention of malnutrition.

  • Ability to ensure effective coordination of nutrition service delivery at facility and community levels, including integration with health and other relevant sectors.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to prepare timely and accurate nutrition program reports.

Languages:

Fluency in local Languages and Working knowledge of English (written and spoken) is required.

IT knowledge :

Microsoft Office package
