Project Coordinator (Subject to Donor's Approval)

Shelter for Life International (SFL) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit and international faith-based organization. It has been working in Afghanistan since 1998 and is presently managing long-term and short-term humanitarian and development programs to the people in need in countries around the world. SFL is currently operational in Afghanistan, Liberia, South Sudan, Senegal and Tajikistan. Our Headquarters is located in Minnetonka, MN and funded by multiple donors such as BPRM, USG, USDA, WFP and FAO. SFL has rich experience and provides assistance in the following areas; Agriculture Development, Food Security, livelihood and emergency, Shelter and Population Settlement, Application of Microcredit, Infrastructure Development and Health and Nutrition.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the effective planning, coordination, implementation of the Resilience Food Systems (RFS) Project, ensuring the timely and quality delivery of project activities related to resilient infrastructure, agriculture, livelihoods, and vocational skills training development, work closely with the Project Manager, technical teams, as well as coordination with, community, stakeholders, government relevant sectors to ensure that project interventions are delivered in accordance with approved work plans, donor requirements, organizational policies, and technical standards.

The Project Coordinator will oversee the field operations, facilitate coordination among project components, monitor implementation progress, solving of operational challenges, provide timely reporting to project manager, Support the Project Manager in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising project activities related to resilient infrastructure, agriculture, livelihoods, and vocational skills training.

• Coordinate the overall implementation of the Resilience Food Systems (RFS) Project in accordance with approved work plans, project objectives, donor requirements, organizational policies, and contractual obligations. Marketing officer will work in direct supervision of project manager and senior management team.
•  Represent SFL as a humanitarian organization in community outreach meetings and in access negotiation meetings with government and non-government stakeholders
• Support the Project Manager in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising project activities
• Analyze and assess the access situations and constraints of the project location and provide immediate and effective solutions to overcome the challenges
•  Work with SFL field teams and support field staff so they would be better equipped to negotiate humanitarian access in a principled and effective way.
•  Plan, organize and execute meetings and community events, workshops and other activities.
•  Attending all sectoral meetings and presenting SFL’s operations within the context of project to relevant governmental and non – governmental authorities and organizations.
•  Keeping track of what’s being done and making sure it's clearly documented
• Coordinate with technical teams, government relevant sectors, community/Stockholders, for successful implementation of project.
• Monitor project progress against approved work plans, performance indicators, and implementation milestones, and recommend corrective actions to address implementation challenges and mitigate risks.
• Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager to support the successful implementation and achievement of project objectives.

Qualification/Requirements:

 ·         Minimum 5 Years of relevant work experience with International NGOs or UN Agencies

·         Computer skills at the operator level, especially with MS Office packages.

·         Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; proficiency in English is required.

·         Having strong report writing skills.  

·         Experience in planning, reporting and budgeting.

·         Good communication skill and able to pass the massage/questions in local languages to the respondents.

·         Have good interpersonal skills and ability to plan work.

·         Supervisory, team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

·         Regional and cultural knowledge of areas of SFL field operations in Afghanistan

·         Willingness to work long hours when required

·         Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites and outside of duty station within Afghanistan and adjust to the SFL environment as frequently as required

·         Honest, proactive, well mannered, and must share values of SFL.

·         Willing to stay in field locations

·         Ready to work, live and travel in an intricate and strenuous environment

•       To be an Afghan citizen.
