Job Description

Job Summary:

The Social Worker Master Trainer will play a pivotal role in delivering and scaling sustainable training programs, with an emphasis on inclusion, gender equity, and alignment with national priorities.

 

Purpose of the Role

The Social Worker Master Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate specialized training packages for formal and informal child protection actors. The role is integral to workforce development and aims to enhance case management, psychosocial support, and community-level engagement—while ensuring consistency with Sharia-compliant practices and local cultural norms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop tailored training materials for social service workers across Afghanistan.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual training workshops in priority regions.
  • Facilitate Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for local partners.
  • Mentor trainees and support post-training application of skills in field settings.
  • Monitor and report on training effectiveness and participant progress.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align training with national child protection strategies.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity for female trainees and marginalized groups.
  • Strengthen capacity of the Child Protection Social Workforce, including social workers, para-social workers and provincial CP teams.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to child protection and GBV social workers at the provincial and district level
  • Ensure that the referral pathway is established, and children are receiving the appropriate services through a coordinated approach
  • Ensure coordination is strengthened at provincial and district levels and support the integration of services
  • Ensure children are safeguarded through care processes and minimum standards of care are applied
  • Ensure CP and GBV resources are deployed according to need and well-defined priorities.
  • Ensure that district and village CPANs have regular interaction with provincial CPAN.
  • Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and accountability tools are utilized.
  • Any other relevant duty assigned to him/her by the supervisor.
  • Liaise with community members, service providers and government stakeholders to identify and safely refer children at/in risk.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Social Work, Bachelor, Psychology, Child Protection, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in training, workforce development, or child protection in fragile or humanitarian contexts.
  • Familiarity with Afghan legal and cultural frameworks, including gender norms and community-based service delivery.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto is essential; English proficiency is desirable.
  • Commitment to rights-based, inclusive, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor the trainers and social workers
  • Experience in adult Education and understanding adult learning principle.
