Acted Afghanistan:

Acted is working in 20 provinces in Afghanistan around the country. These provinces are affected by natural and man-made disasters. Acted provides relief and emergency assistance to vulnerable populations affected by displacements, conflicts, or natural disasters, in the fields of agriculture, shelter, wash, and food security.

Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose

Area Chief Trainer under the direct supervision of project manager and functionally Area Coordinator will be responsible to provide capacity building program – design and train handouts to Acted staff and lead the social behavior changes and awareness sessions in field. Support field staff especially project officers in well planning of capacity building.

Duties &Responsibilities:

Capacity Building Program Development and management:

    • Support the programme launch and initial set up (review manual develop ppt’s conduct training to staff and project beneficiaries required.
    • Develop handouts and make sure it meets all acted publication policies
    • Conduct ToT’s and trainings
    • Support documentations during the trainings and capacity building projgrams
    • Prepare and design quality modules and training manuals from key references on financial and procurement management, grant utilization, sub-project implementation management and basic accounting to be inline with WUA/MDP developed handout to enhance the capacity of to implement selected sub-grant projects with technical support of Acted.
    • Prepare the weekly, monthly training implementation plans of the WUA/MDP grants of the project, oversee its realization and bring necessary adjustments to it, in consultation with the Programme Manager.
    • Lead and conduction of handbook and designed trainings and plan the various stages of grant implementation; guide the implementation of the handout for the and the methods of follow-up.
    • Ensure gender equality mainstreaming with regards to the beneficiaries through effective training conduction and get frequent support of program staff.
    • Develop the capacity of Acted program staff, members, deepen their understanding of their roles and assist with handout and grant utilization and management. Plan induction and technical trainings, as well as refresher trainings.
    • Coordinate with the AME team (finalization and execution of AME plan, arranging site visits/meetings, GOCA (gross-root capacity building assessment) implementation etc). 
    • Provide professional technical assistance in preparing viable recommendations on sub-grant project implementation, alternative approaches, and optimal utilization of resources that contribute effectively to the fulfilment of the selected sub-grant projects.
    • Support Acted’s Appraisal, Monitoring and Evaluation (AME) and Compliance teams on training deliverables and social audit of grants administrative documents regular review.

Team Management

    • Promote accountability, communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one on one and performance reviews.
    • Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence.
    • Participate actively in weekly area or base meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences organized by Acted.

External representation

    • Close communication with the government, authorities and other NGOs focal points, and support to all provincial teams in their cooperation with line departments;
    • The Master Trainer is expected to contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of Acted’s mandate, ethics, values and stand-point with regard to other actors.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in literature, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in lead positions in development programs or NPPs (NSP, CCNPP) programs.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial position, with an ability to lead and build the capacity of large project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with local authorities and government agencies, as well as community-based organizations, local governance structures and small businesses.
  • Knowledge of education/business development-related line agencies’ mandates and key policies
  • Knowledge of the target area’s culture, traditions and sensitiveness
  • Experience working with and coordinating with I/NGOs and other stakeholders
  • Ability to regularly travel to the project sites for doing field work.
  • Demonstrated budget management skills.
  • Good critical thinking skills
  • Excellent Dari, Pashto and English language skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer office applications and email.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to improve others’ education and income generation opportunities, and to engage with rural communities, particularly women and girls.
  • Ability to write clear, accurate and brief monthly, quarterly and final project reports, and compile associated data
