Job Descriptions:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

PURPOSE  OF THE  ROLE: 
The FSL Officer – Value Chain will be responsible for conducting comprehensive value chain assessments, market studies, and supporting the development and implementation of value chain interventions in targeted communities. The role will focus on improving market linkages, fostering job creation, and enhancing the livelihoods of returnees, host communities, and nomadic Kuchi through both vertical and horizontal integration of value chains.
SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to: FSL coordinator 
Staff reporting to this post: Community mobilizers-volunteers  

Budget Responsibilities: Not Applicable
Role Dimensions: The post holder will establish a good working relationship with rest of Save the Children's livelihood and child protection staff as well as with community members where the project activities are implemented.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY : 
The main areas of accountability and responsibility of this position are, to support the implementation of the Agriculture component under SC-NI grant over the target province/s. 

Key Responsibilities:

 Support the project team in terms of community mobilization and sensitization.
 Conduct beneficiary selection through a household survey.
 Conduct value chain analysis focusing on key livelihood sectors such as agriculture and livestock to identify opportunities for market linkages and livelihood development.
 Implement strategies that improve access to markets for returnees, hosts, and Kuchi nomadic communities by supporting the entire value chain from production to marketing.
  Work with FSL committees and stakeholders to enhance vertical integration, providing capacity-building and training in production, processing, and marketing.
  Promote horizontal integration by fostering collaboration and coordination among different communities and stakeholders, facilitating joint decision-making and resource sharing.
 Support the design and implementation of inclusive income-generating activities and ensure that value chain interventions are gender-responsive.
 Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to facilitate participatory natural resources mapping and the identification of key communal assets for rehabilitation through cash-for-work schemes.
  Monitor and evaluate the impact of value chain interventions on food security and income generation within the target communities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning:

 Prepare and implement action plan for quality monitoring 
 Mobilizing and Making communities aware of project objectives, outputs and activities and MEAL systems and SCI Child Safeguarding Policies.
 Facilitate project and activities information at all events such as training and workshops

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:  
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential
 At least 3 years of experience in value chain analysis, livelihoods, market systems development, or similar roles within an NGO or development organization.
  Strong understanding of value chain development, market linkages, and income generation.
 Experience in working with vulnerable communities, particularly returnees and nomadic populations.
 Excellent project management and communication skills.
 Fluency in local languages and knowledge of cultural contexts is an advantage.
