About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is operating since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN and most of the national and international Clusters operates based in Afghanistan.

Job Summary

The PSS Worker will deliver structured psychosocial support services and recreational activities to affected individuals and communities. The aim is to help individuals cope with stress and trauma, build resilience, and support overall mental wellbeing.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group-based psychosocial support (PSS) services for children, adolescents, and/or adults.
  • Facilitate recreational, creative, and educational activities aimed at promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
  • Identify and refer individuals in need of specialized mental health services following established referral pathways.
  • Conduct community outreach to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and promote available services.
  • Support the design and implementation of community-based PSS initiatives.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records of participants, sessions, and referrals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and capacity-building sessions.
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting activities as required.
  • Represent OHW in sub-national, national and internal meetings, when requested.
  • Always respect the anonymity of clients approaching OHW and the confidentiality of information received from them;
  • Contribute in children violence case finding and categorizing the cases.
  • Provide legal and psychological support for children violence survivors.
    Establish strong referral system with the other service providers for children survivors.
  • Provide technical support for main referee children of CFSs to provide specialized services for the children survivors.
  • Follow-up children survivors counseling process.
  • Record all children violence cases and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Liaise with relevant governmental departments to address children violence survivor needs.
  • Provide individualized practical instruction
  • Demonstrate practical counseling procedures
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in psychology, social work, counselling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agencies or similar organization.
  • Knowledge of mental health and protection principles, including child protection and GBV.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately via English, Pashto and Dari.
