Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh) is a Swiss child welfare foundation, providing assistance and protection to vulnerable population worldwide. Tdh has been working in Afghanistan since 1995 and carry out projects related to Child Protection, Access to Justice, Mother and Child Health and Livelihood Programs in Kabul, Herat ,Nangarhar provinces.

The nurse  is responsible of the overall supporting and providing the medicine according to the described examining of the medical doctor and midwifes for project’s activities Nangarhar province. The Nurse closely cooperate with the medical doctors and medwifes in the teams and ensure quality, accountability of deliverables and respect of deadlines. Under the supervision of the mdical doctor, the provides technical support and advice and works in close collaboration with team of midwifes and social worker.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Register and undertake growth monitoring including weight, height, Mid Upper Arm Circumference Measurement of all children under two years of age.
• Classify children in normal, Moderate Acute malnutrition (MAM) and Sever Acute Malnutrition (SAM) categories.
• Community sensitization and conduct counseling for caregivers of all under two years children on appropriate infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices and on prevention of infections based on their status.
• The SAM cases should be referred to the doctor for giving adequate treatment.
• Administer Vitamin A if the child has not received Vitamin A supplementation during the previous NID.
• Promote consumption of iodized salt.
• Triage the patients and provide first aid
• Manage shock including open vein and control of bleeding
• Wound care and dressing.
• Identification of fracture including neck, spinal cord and its stabilization/immobilization.
• Cooperate the doctor in distribution of medicine to the patients
• Assess the psychosocial status of affected people
• Provide psychosocial counseling for individual and groups
• Refer complicated cases to doctor or higher levels and follow up of cases
• Provide weekly and monthly report

• Minimum three (3) years of experience, preferably in a remote site.
• Degree/Diploma in Nursing
• Received training in nutrition package in emergency

Needed Training:

• nutrition package in emergency
• PHTLA
• BLSS
• First Aid Psychological Counseling

·        Basic information about the hospital sections

   Qualification:

• Up date the status of the patient with the medical report on the patient file
• Responsible of the status , dignity, intimacy and hygiene of the patient
• Assume the mobility of the patient to avoid decubitus ulcer.
• Assume the parameter( temperature, RR, pulse, etc..) and the treatment are clearly written on the patient file and followed.
• Take the parameter( temperature, pulse, RR, Blood pressure, etc)
• Inform the MA or the Medical Doctor responsible for any change of the status of the patient
