About MEDAIR:

Medair is an international humanitarian organization established in 1988. Medair has been operating in Afghanistan since 1996 with programs mainly in the Health, Water & Sanitation, and Livelihoods sectors with significant reconstruction activities in remote areas. Current projects are Water & Sanitation, Food Security, & Disaster Risk Reduction.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Tirinkot district.  The project intends to improve and extend WASH services including water supply infrastructure and hygiene practices to improve outcomes for vulnerable families.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair aims to respond to high levels of food insecurity, malnutrition, and morbidity in Uruzgan, which has been significantly affected by drought and conflict conditions. Building upon Medair’s decades of experience in the Central Highlands and Kandahar, the project intends to improve and extend the utilization of lifesaving preventive and curative nutrition and health services by mothers, PLWs, and children U5; to increase access to clean water, to reduce vulnerability to water-related and other preventable diseases, and to improve and increase food security for the most vulnerable families through food voucher distributions.

Job Descriptions:

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring proper process and practice are implemented according to Medair regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining EIC & ENC work permits, visas, and Project MoUs.
  • Assist in liaising with relevant government ministries and authorities in Kabul to obtain. Project MoUs, registration documents, visas and work permits for national and international staff and visitors.
  • Assist in flight booking and travel arrangements for domestic and international travels of all staff and visitors.
  • Assist in arranging accommodation and housekeeping for Medair’s national and international staff coming to Kabul.
  • Assist in managing cooks and cleaners in the Kabul office.
  • Filing of relevant documents in Medair data bases, updating information tracker.
  • Assist with and follow up on collecting confirmation of the six-month report activities from field staff for the project’s six-month reporting on the MoEc online system.
  • Other tasks on request by the line manager.

 

General responsibilities:

  • Immediate notification of any suspicion of fraudulent activity amongst staff and external links.
  • Adherence to Medair values and Code of Ethics and represent these to external stakeholders.
  • Adherence to Afghan NGO Law and Tax Law.
  • Adherence to all ENC Regulations and Security Standard Operating Procedures. Always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Contribute to the wellbeing of the team as an active member.

Job Requirements:

Educational Background: Diploma in Administration or relevant field is essential, and bachelor’s degree holder is a plus.

Relevant experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the administration unit - liaising with the governmental departments is essential, and experience in working for an NGO is desirable.

Language Skills: Fluent in Dari, Pashto & English (speaking and writing).

Computer Skills: Ease with MS Excel and MS Word, experience of archiving on cloud system. 

Organizational Capacity: Ability to prioritise and multi-task  and ability to coordinate teams in other locations.

Confidentiality: Strictly maintain confidentiality.

Team building: Able to work as part of a team, ability to assist teams when needed and willingness to support colleagues.

Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, ability to work in cross-culture context, willing to work in a hardship area.
