Job Descriptions:

  • Independently modify assigned dogs’ behavior, train specific service dog tasks and basic, intermediate, and advanced obedience in accordance with K9s For GAAC policies and procedures
  • Maintain detailed training, evaluation, behavior modification and medical records as per policies and procedures
  • Analyze and assess individual dogs; execute a tailored training program
  • Assist in the care and health of the dogs which consists of training, feeding, breaking, bathing, exercising, enriching, and medicating dogs
  • Participate in team training activities to include impulse control, time outs, quiet kennels, temperament testing, group walks and continuing education sessions
  • Coordinate, run and supervise dog playgroups; evaluate dog’s stress levels, monitor for rude or aggressive behavior; identify when to and how to interrupt inappropriate play
  • Identifying the correct service dog for the veteran, initial dog pairing, provide training assistance through transference
  • Transport dogs as required
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of training equipment, vehicles and on campus training areas
  • Perform daily cleaning of kennels and kennel area
  • Participate in public relations presentations and demonstrations.
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision and handle oneself in a professional matter at all times
  • Provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines
  • Conduct and oversee authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed
  • Perform canine training, audits and administrative deliverables as required for assigned Canine Teams
  • Manage, supervise and coordinate post assignments and schedules for canine Handlers, to include vacation relief that ensure required coverage
  • Perform Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog
  • Manager will be responsible for maintaining training records
  • Manager will be responsible for care and maintenance of assigned canine
  • Must maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances
  • Must be willing to operate company vehicle (during on-site training)

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma equivalent and above
  • Must have three years experience in K9 Section.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (word and excel)
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Dari/Pashto and English
  • Must have good time management skills
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy with record keeping in both paper and electronic versions.

  • Highly effective organizational skills.
