About TLO:

The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Kandahar, Herat, Mazar, and Nangarhar and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.

Job Descriptions:

The Project Officer will report to the Education Project Manager and play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities in alignment with the project goals and organizational standards. This role involves close collaboration with internal TLO departments and field teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of education interventions.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

The Project Officer will undertake the following responsibilities but not limited to;

  • Assist project manager in daily follow up with provincial team and oversee the day-to-day implementation of education project activities.
  • Coordinate with field staff to ensure activities are carried out as planned
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data for reporting purposes.
  • Provide regular updates on project performance to the supervisor.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, and events related to education if needed.
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports, case studies, and success stories.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities and provide regular updates to project manager.
  • Assist project manager in managing project budgets and resources effectively and travel to project sites if needed
  • Ensure that all expenditures are aligned with the project plan and guidelines.
  • Update project work plans and timelines, plus analyzing data and data visualization
  • Collect and combine relevant data and reports from provincial team and submit it for review and finalization.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Community Development, or other related field.
  • At least (3-5) years of experience in project implementation, preferably in the education sector and within an NGO or community-based setting.
  • Priority will be given to local residents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with educational projects and record-keeping procedures.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with provincial team, and internal departments.
  • Proficiency in local languages and English, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational skills and attention to details.
