Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) is a non-governmental, non-profitable, and non-political Afghan NGO, working since 1987 mainly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure sectors in more vulnerable areas of the country. CHA is working through the implementation of Emergency, rehabilitation, and development projects for emergency aid for war, famine, and natural disaster-affected families in the field, to assist with the rehabilitation of rural and urban life, and to work with communities for sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

• Responsible for safe deliveries and newborn care in the catchment areas of health center where mothers do not have access to maternal and newborn care services during the day time.

• Provide at least four-time ANC services for each pregnant women during the whole period of pregnancy according to national guideline.

• Provide skilled birth attendant services to the mothers who cannot attend the health facility, during her worktime.

• Maintain main focus on ante natal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC) and neonatal care (NNC) services to postpartum women and newborn babies including health education and community awareness on exclusive breastfeeding, mother nutrition, prevention of infection

• As per the principles of basic emergency obstetric care, manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth.

• Considering IP measures during the deliveries & organizing standard ANC/PNC visits to targeted areas.

• Consulting and educating women, family and community in areas pertaining to Health including mother and newborn health.

• Managing Eclampsia and Preeclampsia (screening, treatment and referrals).

• Administering PPH by the distribution of Misoprostol.

• Offering postpartum family planning counseling and services.

• Referring postpartum complications when needed.

• Conducting screening of the pregnant women for dangerous signs of pregnancy.

• Delivering comprehensive counseling for all FP methods, distribution of short term family planning methods and IEC materials.

• Delivering short-term family planning methods to the clients. • Developing an effective referral system for long-run family planning methods.

• Conducting the PNC visit in 48 hours after delivery and Providing information and education on Self-care.

• Facilitating enabling environment for a comprehensive referral pathway in the event of any complication in delivery.

• Rising awareness among the women during their visits.

• Providing instant newborn care focusing on airway, warmth and breastfeeding and delivering emergency measures for newborn resuscitation.

• Providing daily newborn care, including physical examination, taking care of the umbilical cord, immunization, etc.

• Performing administrative tasks such as patient caring, recording and reporting of data and coordination of specific educational or outreach programs.

• Ensure proper Data recording and reporting system and preparing & submitting monthly reports to Project Focal Point.

Job Requirements:

• Graduated from an accredited/recognized midwifery institute/program.

• At least have 3 years of relevant working experience.

• Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement or at least local language where she is assigned to work.

• Culturally flexibility and respect multi-cultural environment.

• Patient counselling and advice and technical skills to provide effective safe motherhood services.

• Good team work spirit

• Good communication skills and ability to interact successfully.
