Johanniter International Assistance. (www.johanniter-int.org) is a German non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting mostly health projects worldwide.

Johanniter is working is Afghanistan since October 2002 providing emergency aid, rehabilitation of health facilities, medical care and capacity building for community health workers, students, teachers and professionals of NGOs and government agencies in disaster preparedness and first aid skills. Johanniter’s country office is located in Kabul and has operational coverage in the North, Northeastern and central region with possibility of expansion in the South and Western provinces of Afghanistan.

Job Summary / Purpose:

The incumbent of this position is mainly responsible for provision of Hygiene promotion to the community people and technical support to the provincial WASH staff to enhance WASH project, preparedness, prevention, response and recovery. He/she is supposed to strengthen community engagement and ensure community awareness about the Health and Hygiene.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deliver awareness sessions on Hygiene promotion and prevention measures in the targeted communities.

1. Establishment Water committee management and train the Water committee
2. Conduct training courses for Health and Hygiene training to project staff and Government staff in the targeted province, and orientation session for community representatives Water management committee.
3. Develop the training material based on the MRRD and MoPH policy and guideline.
4. Have the capacity to make the power point presentation based on the community level and requirement.
5. Make sure that training materials are updated that can address the need of community for the WASH.
6. Ensure proper distribution of the IEC and hygiene material in the community 
7. Oversee implementation of the program at the health facility and community levels
8. Distribution of Hygiene Kits to community people.
9. Provide activity reports and develop success stories from the relevant health teams and community
10. Any other tasks assigned by supervisor (Medical Doctor).

Education:

Minimum education is diploma in the relevant field.

Experience:

At least two years of professional experience in WASH/environmental health or related subjects.

Language Professions:

Proficiency in Dari or Pashto is required.
