About Labor Spring Organization:

LSO is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profitable and welfare organization registered with the Ministry of Economy in May 2010 and renewed in August 2024 with the registration number (1678). The organization was established with a mandate to provide voluntary and charitable services to the deprived people, regardless of political, ethnic, or regional affiliations. With a focus on central region and northern part of country, LSO has implemented over 32 humanitarian and development projects in Afghanistan. The organization's thematic areas include emergency response, natural resource management, small-scale enterprise development for women and girls, livelihood and food security, agriculture irrigation, social services and the promotion of women's rights, peace, social cohesion and good governance.

Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position: 

The position holder (Psychosocial Counsellor) will be responsible for the overall planning and providing psychosocial support based on the project plan. Provide individual or group psychological support for targeted beneficiaries. The staff will be placed in LSO Provincial Offices in Bamyan, Daikundi and Kabul with daily field visit to the established community center where she will provide PSS services to the client received at the center located in Bamyan, Daikundi and Kabul.             

Main Responsibilities:

  • Consult with other professionals to discuss therapies, treatments, counselling resources, or techniques, and to share occupational information,
  • Refer clients to specialists or to other institutions/ organizations for non-counselling treatment of problems and refer them to other service providers in case of severe cases of violence,
  • Advise clients on how they could be helped by counselling,
  • Analyse data such as interview notes, test results, and reference manuals in order to identify symptoms, and to diagnose the nature of clients' problems,
  • Counsel individuals, groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and develop realistic action plans,
  • Develop therapeutic and treatment plans based on clients' interests, abilities, and needs,
  • Evaluate the results of counselling methods to determine the reliability and validity of treatments,
  • Assess and evaluate individuals' problems through the use of case history, interview, and observation,
  • Provide individual or group counselling services to assist individuals survive after violence
  • Work with individuals, groups and communities to improve mental health of the victims of violence
  • Work with families of victims to provide safe environment for them,
  • Engaging in discussion with patient and making them feel comfortable,
  • Actively listen to violation survivors and pay full attention to hear their problems
  • Comprehensively understand the situation of clients from a psychosocial angle
  • Treat clients in a well manner,
  • Any other tasks assigned by the project manager

Job Requirements:

  • A Relevant Academic Qualification, in psychosocial and medicine (i.e. Bachelor Degree),
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Psychosocial counselling with national and INGOs in Afghanistan- familiarity of the target district is the added value,
  • Strong practice of workplace diversity and inclusiveness,
  • Knowledge of GBV and case management and protection interventions,
  • Strong communications skills. Fluency in written and spoken English; spoken Dari and Pashto is an advantage,
  • Good computer skills both Word and Excel necessary
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
