Background

A. GNI-A Background:

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization with its headquarters located in Seoul, Republic of Korea. We are a non-profit, non-governmental organization in general consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). 

B. Program Summary:

As an INGO, since 2002, Good Neighbors International-Afghanistan (GNI-A) has been actively working in Afghanistan as a humanitarian and development aid agency, mainly targeting women and children who are deprived of their basic rights, especially the poor (rights-holders), through programs in several sectors, to enhance their capacities and to achieve major improvements in their lives. GNI-A is registered with the Ministry of Economy (NGO Department) under registration number 38.

GNI-A coordinates emergency relief, medical programs, WASH, educational and training programs, as well as community development projects, which enhance the capacity of individual beneficiaries, participants, employers, and host organizations to meet the opportunities and challenges of a changing Afghanistan.

The principal objective of the project is To Protect against vulnerability to climate change (Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Improving Climate Resilient Livelihoods) support, providing WASH facilities and distribution of GIK Kits to the most affected households, vulnerable families, and children in the Nijrab district of Kapisa province.  The project will support 2730 HHs through various activities

Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities

The Hygiene Promotion Trainer will:

  1. Develop culturally appropriate hygiene promotion training materials, visual aids, and IEC tools.
  2. Conduct training sessions for community groups, schools, and local stakeholders on key hygiene topics, including:
    • Safe water handling and storage
    • Hand washing with soap at critical times
    • Household water treatment methods
    • Safe disposal of human waste
    • Personal hygiene and menstrual hygiene management (MHM)
    • Environmental sanitation and waste management
  3. Facilitate participatory discussions, role plays, and demonstrations.
  4. Support the integration of hygiene promotion into other project activities (e.g., construction of WASH facilities, distribution of hygiene kits).
  5. Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge improvement.
  6. Provide feedback to the project team on training outcomes and community needs.
  7. Prepare and submit detailed training reports, attendance lists, and photo documentation.

Deliverables

  • The Project Supervisor has approved the training plan and schedule.
  • Training materials and visual aids (in local languages).
  • Completed hygiene promotion sessions as per plan.
  • Pre/post-test assessment results.
  • Final training report summarizing achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in hygiene promotion/WASH training.
  • Experience working with rural and vulnerable communities.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Fluency in [local languages, e.g., Dari and Pashto]; Basic English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of participatory training approaches and adult learning methods.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, including women, children, and persons with disabilities.

Reporting Line

The Hygiene Promotion Trainer will report to the Project Supervisor/Program/Engagement Coordinator and work closely with other project staff.

Work Schedule & Travel

The position requires travel to target communities and project sites as per the approved work plan.
