In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters.  HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland.

HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach.

HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.

Job Descriptions:

  • Ensure the safety and functionality of the necessary equipment for surgery before starting the procedure, such as suction machine, electro cautery, operating lights, etc.
  • Ensure the availability of all necessary medications for the operating room.
  • Ensure the availability of all surgical sets and instruments .
  • Ensure Cleanliness of the operating room before (Pre Operation) and after (Post Operation) the procedure.
  • Sterilize all necessary surgical instruments.
  • Control the operating room in terms of adequate lighting, electrical supply, temperature, and humidity.
  • Check the patient's file before surgery and ensure the necessary health examinations and consultations, including internal medicine, anesthesia, and agreement with the patient or their guardian.
  • to be present in the operating room until the completion of the surgical procedure, paying attention to the patient's condition and assisting the surgeons.
  • Count surgical instruments such as surgical blades and needles, collecting them at the end of the operation.
  • Collect and wash used instruments and sterilize them for future operations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information and the operating room.

4. Coordination with HealthNet TPO

  • Comply with all HealthNet TPO policies, protocols, and operational procedures.
  • Attend relevant trainings, meetings, and capacity-building sessions organized by HealthNet TPO.
  • Maintain respectful, compassionate, and professional behaviour in all duties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Hospital Director or HealthNet TPO management team.

Job Requirements:

  • Valid nursing documents with two years of proven experience in Hospital
  •  Excellent knowledge of surgical procedures
  •  Excellent knowledge of surgical care

Working Hours and Conditions

  • Workdays: Saturday to Thursday
  • Working Hours: 08:00 AM – 03:30 PM
  • Flexibility to work beyond official hours in emergencies or as required by the program.
