About MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA):

MSI Reproductive Choices Afghanistan (MSIA) is a branch of MSI, a global, non-profit, and non-governmental organization headquartered in London, UK, and was established in August 2002 after registration with the Government of Afghanistan. MSIA follows the local mission statement of MSI: Improve Afghan women’s health and well-being so that they can, in turn, build strong, healthy families. Our vision is to be the organization that Afghan women seek out for high-quality, client-centered health care provided by women, for women.

We focus on reducing maternal mortality by providing quality and sustainable maternal-child health (MCH) and reproductive health (RH) services and information in 17 provinces of Afghanistan, namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan Faryab, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kandahar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Takhar, Samangan, Kapisa, Khost, Paktia, and Daikundi, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) of Afghanistan. 

MSIA strives to enhance women's health outcomes in the aforementioned provinces by delivering vital reproductive and maternal-child health services through multiple channels such as centers, outreaches, the private sector, and MS Ladies (Family Health Houses).

Job Descriptions:

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and conduct clinical SRH/FP (Basic/ToT/refresher and on the job training) according to MSA annual training plan and as per the training need assessment results
  • Update Training and competency assessment database on regular basis
  • Plan and execute competency assessment of all MSA service providers as per MSI competency assessment policy
  • Plan and execute induction plan for newly recruited quality/training officers as well as service providers
  • Plan and execute competency assessment of public/private sector providers as per their existing  MoU with MSA
  • Plan and execute annual MEM drill exercises for all quality/training officers and MSA service providers across all channels
  • Keep records and inventory of all training equipment, manage supplies and coordinate with relevant team members to ensure adequate equipment and resources are available for training
  •  Lead Medical Advisory Team (MAT) meetings and actively contribute to the development of action plan
  •  Follow execution of internal audit/ competency/ incidents/ QTA/CAVA other quality relevant action plans for implementation
  • Cascade incident management training to all MSA/ Public and private providers and ensure providers have acquired sufficient knowledge on incident management manual and reporting procedures
  • Review MSI guidelines and ensure update and translated versions are available in each service delivery site and providers have access to them
  • Ensure all providers are up to date on each MSI guidelines
  • Conduct monitoring and supervision visits on timely manner and provide supportive supervision and technical advisory support for providers
  • Oversee MSA training sessions in Kabul and  provinces and provide feedback  for trainers
  • review/revise and update all training material according to MSA training standard
  • Conduct competency assessment and annual endorsement for MSA clinical trainers
  • Participate in national and international training/conference and workshops introduced and nominated by MSA
  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by line manager/Team Leader

 

Job Requirements:

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in the designing, development and technical implementation of the M&E systems.
  • Experience in providing high level technical advice to M&E projects, including presenting technical advice to management meetings, drafting advisory papers, and delivering training to technical staffs.
  • 4-6 years of experience working in a challenging developing country context.
  • 3- 5 years Proven experience in providing SRH/FP training
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience in SRH/FP service provision
  • Solid experience in project management and working in collaborative environment
  •  Ability to influence others within the organisation while being open to other people’s views through negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and monitoring internal procedures for adherence to regulations and policies related to projects.
  • Experience in leadership/ managing a team
  • Keen intellect with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing and to make effective public presentations.
  • Ability to work well with others in team environments
  • Must be able to satisfy stakeholders
  • Should be able to work in deadline driven/results orientated atmospheres
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strategic guidance and planning skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking capabilities.

Key Mesure:

  • >90% of providers are level 1 in high risk services across all channels
  • All MSA providers have been competency assessed for each SRH/FP service they provide and have  achieved level1
  • Training and competency training database is updated on timely manner
  • Annual MEM drill is conducted for all service providers
  • All providers understand incident management reporting procedures
  • Client centred counselling is provided by >90% providers 
  • Quality relevant action plans are on track
