Shining Star Educational Organization of Afghanistan (SSEOA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan, with Registration Number 4388 dated February 18, 2018. SSEOA works in the fields of education, health, and livelihood in the remote regions of Afghanistan. SSEOA envisions creating educational opportunities for girls and women to grow, thrive, and prosper. SSEOA works to empower communities in Afghanistan through education, especially for girls, promotes peace through education, and conveys the importance of these activities all around the country. Our mission is to empower Afghans, especially girls and women in the remote regions of Afghanistan by creating educational opportunities and livelihood skills because SSEOA has a firm belief that without educating girls, peace and prosperity is not possible.

SSEOA boasts a team of highly qualified professionals renowned for their discipline, organization, efficiency, and extensive tenure within both national and international organizations. The team is spearheaded by an Executive Body comprising of the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Program Director, Finance Manager, and Program Manager, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. At the helm of strategic governance stands SSEOA's Board of Directors, comprising five distinguished members renowned for their extensive experience working with the government and NGO sector.

Job Descriptions:

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Program Implementation and Management:
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all projects in the region.
  • Ensure that program activities are aligned with the organization’s objectives and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with program staff to ensure effective and efficient project delivery and problem-solving.
  • Develop and oversee detailed work plans, ensuring project milestones are achieved.
  1. Program Planning & Delivery
  • Coordinate with PEC, DTEs, and CMs to prepare monthly plans, cash requests, and financial reports.
  • Support development of the provincial education plan and ensure compliance with donor requirements
  1. Program Oversight & Effectiveness
  • Supervise DTEs and monitor field activities across districts.
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure alignment with policies and quality standards
  1. Staff Management & Capacity Building
  • Identify training and development needs among provincial education staff.
  • Facilitate mentoring sessions, staff performance evaluations, and maintain organized records
  1. Resource Management
  • Oversee procurement, distribution, and utilization of education materials.
  • Ensure transparent record-keeping and effective resource use
  1. Communication, Reporting & Updates
  • Prepare monthly progress reports, financial summaries, and cash requests.
  • Collaborate with PEC and NEM on quarterly and annual reports.
  • Share lessons learned and success stories to inform program improvement
  1. Representation
  • Represent the education department at meetings, campaigns, and stakeholder forums.
  • Foster constructive relationships with Provincial and District Education Departments (PEDs/DEDs), teacher training colleges (TTCs), NGOs, and local authorities
  1. Child Protection Commitment
  • Implement responsibilities in line with the organization’s child safeguarding policy and advocate for children’s right
  1. Reporting and Communication:
    • Submit timely and accurate reports on program activities, progress, and challenges to the Head of Programs.
    • Maintain effective communication with headquarters and field teams to ensure alignment on project goals and activities.
    • Ensure documentation of lessons learned and success stories to inform future programming and donor reporting.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in managing development or humanitarian programs, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in overseeing multiple projects simultaneously in complex environments, particularly in conflict or post-conflict settings.
  • Experience in mentoring, stakeholder engagement, logistics, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead diverse teams.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and monitor activities to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong financial management skills, with experience overseeing budgets and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the organization at a high level with government officials, donors, and partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and other relevant tools.
  • Fluent in local languages and English.
  • Familiarity with education systems, NGOs/INGOs operations, and child protection.
