Established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness about the rights of women and children in Islam.

Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

Job Descriptions:

The purpose of the Community Mobilizer couple roles is to engage, organize, and empower communities to actively participate in project activities and decision-making processes. The Community Mobilizer serves as a link between the organization and the community, ensuring that community needs, priorities, and feedback are heard and addressed.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain trustful relationships with community members, leaders, and local authorities.

Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and awareness sessions on project objectives and services.

Mobilize and encourage active participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.

Support the establishment and strengthening of community-based structures (e.g., committees, volunteer groups).

Identify community needs, priorities, risks, and challenges, and report them to the project team.

Disseminate information on rights, available services, and referral pathways.

Assist in the implementation of field activities such as distributions, trainings, and awareness campaigns.

Collect and share feedback from the community to inform project design and adaptation.

Document success stories, lessons learned, and prepare field reports.

Ensure all activities are conducted in line with cultural sensitivity, gender inclusion, and organizational safeguarding policies.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

A Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development, and/ or a related field.

A Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in community mobilization, social work, outreach, or similar roles.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of local context, traditions, and community dynamics.

Ability to engage diverse groups, including women and vulnerable populations.

Fluent in Pashto and Dari; basic English is an advantage.

Willingness to travel frequently within project areas.
