The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.

AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.

 

Job Descriptions:

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and document all incoming pharmaceutical and medical supplies according to AKHS,A protocols.
  • Organize and store stock according to best practices (FIFO, FEFO, GSP, GDP)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records using Stock card and maintain accurate data filing.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the Pharmacy Officer promptly.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and issue stock to health facilities as approved.
  • Ensure that all medications and supplies are stored in accordance with quality standards (temperature, light, humidity).
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts (monthly, quarterly, and annually) and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Properly file and maintain inventory records and ensure availability of documents for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy warehouse.
  • Assist in monitoring the expiry dates of stock and facilitate the removal of expired or damaged items.
  • Ensure compliance with AKHS,A policies, donor requirements, and national pharmaceutical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Officer and other pahrmacy staff to improve inventory management and reduce wastage.
  • Maintain confidentiality, safety, and integrity of all records and supplies.
  • Follow up on returned pharmaceutical supplies and medical equipment from HFs.
  • Any other duties assigned by Pharmacy Officer
  • Be guided by the AKHS Code of Conduct including the institutional safeguarding principles in all dealings.
  • Consider institutional Net-Zero targets and plans when carrying out responsibilities

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s in pharmacy or preferable pharm-D

Experience: Minimum 2 Years at least in pharmacy stock keeper

Skill: Good communication skills in Dari and English.

General: Bamyan local Resident or willing to stay long in Bamyan.
