Afghanistan Social and Legal Organization (ASLO) is a national, non-governmental, non-political, non-profit, and non-partisan organization officially registered with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in 2013 (Registration Number: 2852).

Job Description
Purpose of the Position
The Food Security and Livelihood Director will lead ASLO’s programs in food security and livelihoods, aiming to enhance household resilience, economic stability, and sustainable development. This is a permanent, five-year position responsible for managing multiple projects (1–40 projects), supervising staff, and coordinating with donors and government authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all food security and livelihood programs of ASLO.
- Design and implement livelihood support initiatives and economic empowerment programs.
- Coordinate food security and livelihood projects with donors, partners, and relevant government ministries (e.g., Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Refugees, Ministry of Economy).
- Develop project concepts, proposals, budgets, and donor reports in compliance with organizational and donor policies.
- Monitor program impact, ensure sustainability, and report on program outcomes.
- Supervise and build the capacity of program staff.
- Manage financial and technical aspects of projects according to international standards.
- Ensure high-quality implementation of ongoing projects and initiate new projects.
- Travel to provinces for monitoring and oversight of program activities.
- Maintain excellent communication and reporting in English.
- Ensure accountability during national and international audits.
Job Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Agriculture, Economics, or Development Studies.
- Minimum 12 years of professional experience in food security and livelihood programs, including work with national and international NGOs.
- Strong expertise in project management, proposal writing, budget preparation, and donor reporting.
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects (1–40) and manage program teams.
- Experience in coordinating with government authorities and international donors.
- Commitment to work with ASLO for at least 2 years.
- Ability to travel to provinces across Afghanistan.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in English, Dari, and/or Pashto (written and spoken).
- Excellent leadership, program management, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, planning, and reporting skills.
- Ability to ensure donor compliance and high-quality project implementation.
- Capacity to design and develop new programs in the sector.
