Job Description

Description
The Field Geophysicist (Seismic, Oil and Gas Industry) is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring and controlling of field seismic operations to support hydrocarbon exploration, reservoir characterization and field development projects. The role requires close collaboration with geologists, drilling teams, and clients to ensure the acquisition of high-quality geophysical data while maintaining compliance with HSE and operational standards
Duties and Responsibilities
Seismic Operations
Coordinate and supervise the execution of field seismic survey operations.
Oversee seismic data acquisition to ensure data quality and operational efficiency.
Monitor seismic equipment performance and troubleshoot technical issues during field operations.
Ensure proper calibration and deployment of seismic tools and sensors.
Data Acquisition & Quality Control
Perform real-time quality control (QC) of seismic data.
Verify data completeness, accuracy, and compliance with client specifications.
Analyze acquired data and identify anomalies, inconsistencies, or operational challenges.
Provide technical recommendations for field acquisition parameter optimization, noise attenuation, and reshoot requirements.
Prepare daily and weekly QC reports with quality analysis and operational recommendations for project teams and the COMPANY.
HSE & Compliance
Adhere to COMPANY's Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards.
Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
Report incidents, near misses, and equipment concerns promptly.
Client & Project Support
Maintain professional communication with clients and project stakeholders.
Provide technical support and operational updates during field projects.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.

Job Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physics, or a related discipline.
Professional Geoscientist or Geophysicist certification (where applicable).
Certifications or demonstrated proficiency in specialized seismic design, field processing, and QC software (e.g., MESA / OMNI 3D, VISTA Seismic Processing/ ProMAX) are desirable.
HSE and First Aid certifications.

Work Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the field of seismic acquisition within the oil and gas industry.
Experience working in remote field environments and drilling locations.
Proven experience in seismic data acquisition and quality control.

Key Technical Skills
Strong understanding of 2D/3D seismic data acquisition principles.
Proficiency in field seismic data quality control (QC), real-time data verification, and basic field processing (brute stack).
Solid understanding of seismic wave propagation, noise analysis, and field velocity analysis.
Hands-on experience with modern field seismic acquisition systems, sensors, and QC software.
Ability to identify data anomalies, equipment distortions, and signal-to-noise issues in real time.
Understanding of Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) principles and check-shot survey methodologies.
Understanding of seismic-to-well data integration principles to support geological interpretation and resolve subsurface objectives.

Languages:
Dari and/ or Pashto fluent (spoken and written) mandatory.
English: Advanced to proficient level required, with strong business writing, negotiation, and professional communication skills.
Russian language skills are a distinct advantage.
