Established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness about the rights of women and children in Islam.
Our core activities focus on empowering women, eliminating violence, and increasing women's participation in both domestic and societal spheres.
With over three decades of experience, AWEC possesses a profound understanding of Afghanistan's socioeconomic, cultural, and political landscape. We are recognized as a leading organization that addresses the diverse needs of various communities, which are shaped by numerous social and economic factors.
Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

AWEC has zero tolerance approach to the AWEC Code of Conduct including safeguarding, SH, and Fraud violations being committed by its staff, consultants, contractors, volunteers, interns, suppliers, vendors, sub-grantees/partners, implementing partners or any other associate.
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising the project team, ensuring timely and effective delivery of activities, maintaining coordination with relevant humanitarian clusters, local authorities, and community representatives, as well as leading project communication, documentation, and reporting.
He will also be responsible for management, coordination, and administrative functions required for the smooth execution of the project for the two months.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise all project activities, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and project objectives.
Coordinate with the WASH, Protection and other Clusters, local authorities, and partner organizations.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of project staff.
Monitor project progress, budget utilization, and compliance with safeguarding standards.
Ensure timely procurement and distribution of winterization kits and repair of water systems.
Facilitate regular reporting to the donor and stakeholders.
Manage risks and resolve operational challenges in the field.
Ensure community engagement, feedback mechanisms, and accountability processes are functional.
Supervise MEAL activities, including beneficiary verification and post-distribution monitoring.
Ensure all staff are trained in PSEA and safeguarding protocols.
Maintain project documentation and records.
Support the development of technical designs and implementation plans for WASH interventions.
Ensure gender-sensitive and inclusive service delivery.
Promote a safe and respectful working environment for all staff.
Prepare and submit regular progress and financial reports.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Management, Development Studies, Economics, Public Administration, Project Management, and/ or a related field. (Master’s degree holders preferred).
A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in project management in humanitarian or development settings.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
Strong communication skills in English, Pashto, and Dari.
Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to humanitarian values and community empowerment.
Precision and attention to detail in design and supervision.
Strong problem-solving and field coordination abilities.
Respectful collaboration with communities and stakeholders.
