SUMARRY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:


The DRR Trainer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) training to engineers, masons, and community members. The aim is to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants in implementing effective DRR practices and improving community resilience to disasters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Development and Delivery:
    • Develop and design DRR training materials and curricula tailored to the needs of engineers, masons, and community members.
    • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars on DRR concepts, practices, and techniques.
    • Utilize various training methods, including presentations, practical exercises, and group discussions, to effectively communicate DRR principles.
  2. Engagement and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure the content is relevant and up-to-date.
    • Coordinate with Field Engineers, Community Workers, and other relevant personnel to schedule and organize training sessions.
    • Engage participants actively and address their queries or concerns during training sessions.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, evaluations, and participant performance.
    • Adapt training methods and materials based on feedback and evolving needs.
    • Monitor and report on the impact of training on participants' understanding and application of DRR practices.
  4. Capacity Building:
    • Provide ongoing support and guidance to participants in applying DRR knowledge and skills in their respective roles.
    • Facilitate the creation of DRR action plans and strategies at the community and organizational levels.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement in DRR practices among participants.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, including attendance, materials used, and outcomes achieved.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on training activities, participant feedback, and any challenges encountered.
    • Document best practices and lessons learned to inform future training efforts.
  6. Compliance and Ethical Standards:
    • Ensure that all training activities comply with project guidelines, ethical standards, and local regulations.
    • Promote a respectful and inclusive learning environment that values diverse perspectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; additional qualifications in training or education are advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in DRR, including practical experience in training and capacity building.

Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of DRR principles and best practices.
    • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.

Key Competencies:

  • Expertise in DRR: In-depth understanding of disaster risk reduction strategies and practices.
  • Training and Facilitation: Ability to design effective training programs and deliver them engagingly.
  • Assessment Skills: Capability to evaluate training effectiveness and adapt approaches as needed.
