SUMARRY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to lead and support the construction of shelters, cash for shelter, and DRR initiatives. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, and execution of shelter projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and community needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Construction of Community Infrastructures

 Project Design: Develop detailed designs and plans for community shelters, including construction and repairing.
 Site Assessment and shelters selection: Conduct site assessments to determine the shelters of the most affected populations.
Construction Management: Oversee all aspects of the construction process, from initial planning to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards. Resource Allocation: Manage resources effectively, including cash for shelters, checking the quality of materials purchasing by communities and equipment, to ensure efficient project execution.

2. Cash for Shelter and construction

 Program Development: Design and implement cash-for-shelter programs that support community shelter needs and encourage communities to use local materials for shelter construction and repairing.
Beneficiary Selection: Work with community leaders and project staff to identify and select eligible beneficiaries for shelter construction and repairing.

 Supervision: Supervise construction, repairing, cash for shelter and DRR activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, safety standards, and quality requirements.

3. Quality Control and Safety
 

Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure all construction activities meet established standards and specifications.
Safety Protocols: Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect workers and community members during construction activities.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation

 Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor the progress of construction shelters, documenting milestones and identifying areas for improvement.
 Data Collection: Collect and analyze data on project activities, including labor, materials, costs, and outcomes.

 Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on the progress, challenges, and successes of construction projects for internal and external stakeholders.

5. Community Engagement

Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with community members, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure their involvement and support for construction of shelters.
Awareness Raising: Conduct community awareness sessions on the importance and benefits of the shelter’s projects being implemented.

6. Capacity Building

Training: Provide training and capacity-building support to local workers and beneficiaries involved in construction activities, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
Technical Support: Offer ongoing technical support and guidance during the implementation of projects, addressing any issues that arise promptly.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
 Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction engineering, with a focus on community infrastructure, cash-for-work projects, and shelter reconstruction.
Skills:
        •       Proficiency in construction project management and engineering design software.
        •       Strong understanding of community-based construction practices and sustainability principles.
        •       Excellent supervisory and team management skills.
        •       Effective communication and community engagement abilities.
        •       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 Language: Proficiency in English and fluency in local languages.
