Job Descriptions:

Project Management and Implementation

  • Manage and oversee the implementation of the women's entrepreneurship development project in Herat, focusing on increasing access to finance and self-employment opportunities for women-owned businesses.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement an operational plan that includes entrepreneurship skill development, access to finance, market support, and financial literacy.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure timely completion according to the approved plan, targets, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and outcomes.
  • Facilitate product quality improvement initiatives, including certification processes for Afghan women entrepreneurs.
  • Oversee the provision of financial literacy training, including knowledge of Islamic finance, and facilitate access to loans for women entrepreneurs.
  • Coordinate digital literacy training sessions covering basic computer skills, digital marketing, and e-commerce for women entrepreneurs.
  • Support market linkage and financial inclusion activities, empowering women entrepreneurs with access to financial services and market opportunities.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Conduct regular project monitoring and evaluation to measure outcomes and impacts, ensuring continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive and fact-based reports, including success stories and case studies, to reflect the progress and impact of the project at the provincial level.
  • Identify and communicate successes, challenges, and lessons learned to the Head of Program and the Program team.
  • Contribute to WASSA’s performance evaluation processes by planning, conducting, and responding to reviews.

 

Staff Management and Development

  • Supervise and guide direct reports in the effective performance of their duties, ensuring clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Implement and manage the performance management system, including setting performance objectives, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Identify and address staff development needs, providing opportunities for career growth and capacity building.
  • Foster a collaborative and learning-oriented environment, encouraging the sharing of knowledge and best practices within the team and across the organization.

 

Coordination and Communication

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including local authorities, international NGOs, and local communities, to ensure effective project implementation and alignment with broader development goals.
  • Represent WASSA, presenting project objectives, outcomes, and activities to donors, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and participate in workshops, trainings, and meetings organized by WASSA or donors, contributing to the success of these events.

 

Budget Management

  • Oversee the project budget, ensuring that expenditures are in line with the budgeted amounts and financial guidelines.
  • Ensure timely preparation of project implementation plans and field reports.

 

Administration and Compliance

  • Support procurement and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the project.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and security protocols across all project activities.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Program.

Job Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing projects related to women's entrepreneurship, livelihoods, and microfinance, preferably within NGOs or development organization.
  • Expertise in financial inclusion and market linkage strategies.
  • Experience with community mobilization and working with local governments.
  • Previous experience in development projects, and budget management.
  • Strong supervisory and communication skills, with the ability to manage and develop a diverse team.

 

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of entrepreneurship skill development, financial literacy, and digital literacy, particularly in the context of women’s economic empowerment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent spoken and written English and local languages.
