Job Descriptions:

The finance specialist should be able to Design and maintain detailed financial models for energy projects, Assess financial feasibility of energy projects under multiple scenarios. Develop and update the company’s long-term and short-term financial plans. Prepare project-specific and corporate-wide budgets and Help implement financial systems or tools for modeling, reporting, and document tracking.

Job Requirements:

  1. Develop Comprehensive Financial Models 
    • Design and maintain detailed financial models for energy projects.
    • Evaluate all key investment metrics:
      • Capital Expenditure (CAPEX)
      • Operational Expenditure (OPEX)
      • Cash Flow Projections
      • Internal Rate of Return (IRR)
      • Net Present Value (NPV)
      • Debt-Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR)
      • Payback Period
      • Tariff
      • Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE)
      • Incorporate tax
      • BRT
      • Contribution
      • Profit margin management
  2. Conduct Full Investment Analysis
    • Assess financial feasibility of energy projects under multiple scenarios.
    • Perform sensitivity analysis to evaluate the impact of changes in fuel cost, Maintenance and operation, tariffs, interest rates, and inflation.
    • Present clear investment summaries and recommendations to the leadership team.
  3. Strategic Financial Planning
    • Develop and update the company’s long-term and short-term financial plans.
    • Align financial strategies with the company’s vision for energy development and expansion.
    • Integrate project financing, grants, equity, and debt structure into strategic planning.
  4. Budgeting and Financial Oversight
    • Prepare project-specific and corporate-wide budgets.
    • Monitor actual vs. forecasted financial performance and flag variances.
    • Ensure cost efficiency throughout project lifecycles.
  5. Project Finance and Stakeholder Support
    • Support investor presentations, lender negotiations, and donor reporting with accurate financial data.
    • Provide financial input for Feasibility Studies, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
  6. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
    • Manage short- and long-term cash flow forecasting.
    • Monitor working capital and ensure liquidity for ongoing operations and development projects.
  7. Financial Reporting and Audit Support
    • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Support internal and external audits with complete financial documentation and analysis.
  8. Compliance and Regulatory Monitoring
    • Ensure compliance with Afghan financial regulations, tax requirements.
    • Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams to evaluate financial risks and ensure transparency.
  9. System Development & Process Improvement
    • Help implement financial systems or tools for modeling, reporting, and document tracking.
    • Recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and clarity in financial reporting.
  10. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with technical, legal, business development, and project teams to ensure financial models reflect real-world assumptions and constraints.
  • Serve as a financial advisor within the company to support all strategic and operational decisions.
