Job Descriptions:

  • Under direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Project Manager has the overall responsibility for the execution of the WHO-funded project against the agreed objectives and within the agreed budgets in Nangarhar province.
  • Coordination of the project activities in collaboration with regional health cluster, Provincial Public Health Directorate (PPHD), PHCC members, BPHS implementer and community.
  • Close coordination of the project activities with the BPHS implementer to avoid duplication of services and wastage of recourses.
  • Attend regular and ad hoc meetings of regional health cluster and other coordination meetings with BPHS implementer.
  • Liaise with Kabul Program manager to develop and implement effective supervision and monitoring systems including training activities that will allow gaps and constraints identification and improvement.
  • Coordinate relocation of SHCs to the new location with close coordination of PPHD and WHO team in Nangarhar.
  • Ensuring that “Do No Harm” practices are incorporated and upheld throughout the planning and implementation of the project. 
  • To follow standard reporting timelines as per project contract reporting formats and provides quality and timely reports to line supervisor.
  • To ensure that all relevant staff are aware from project time schedule (as approved in the contract) and update his/her line supervisor on monthly basis.
  • To closely monitor the performance of project key indicators versus targets on monthly basis and be make sure that effective action plans are developed to achieve project targets both at provincial office and HF level.
  • To ensure that NMC and WHO required checklists are implemented in each HF once per quarter.
  • To conduct presentation to all sub office co-workers on policies, strategies and supervision system related to his/her field of expertise based on capacity building department developed orientation plans.
  • To perform supervisory and monitoring visits from Health Facilities at least twice/month. 
  • To identify and make decision to solve immediately any problem which interferes in the delivery of services or in achieving the project(s) objectives and provides report to his/her immediate supervisor.
  • To conduct bi-weekly meetings with staff.
  • To submit accurate and quality reports to his/her supervisor.
  • To perform any other official task assigned by line supervisor and Head Quarter team.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree (MD certified by relevant higher education authority in Afghanistan or having MPH is advantages).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project management in BPHS or PHC projects
  • Proficient in MS office (esp. excel and world)
  • Fluency in English language with qualities to generate reports
  • Ability to manage project plan activities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to travel to rural locations in province.
  • Ability to work alongside others under stressful conditions in conflict-prone situations
  • Team player with proven leadership skills.
