Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international, non-profitable, non-governmental humanitarian relief organization with its head quarter in Birmingham, UK. It enjoys consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a signatory to the Code of Conduct for International Red Cross and red Crescent Moments and NGOs in Disaster Relief. Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities

PERSON SPECIFICATION

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision, mission and Protection as well as PSEA.

Essential:

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications (Bullet Points)

• High school graduate with a certified vaccination training from EPI,

• Valid professional registration/license from the relevant health authority where applicable.

• Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in immunization services, primary healthcare, or community health programmes, preferably with an NGO or humanitarian organization.

• Good knowledge of Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) guidelines and national immunization schedules.

• Strong skills in vaccine administration, safe injection practices, and immunization procedures.

• Knowledge and practical experience in cold chain management, vaccine storage, temperature monitoring, and vaccine handling.

• Understanding of Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) identification, reporting, and referral procedures.

• Knowledge of immunization data recording, reporting systems, and HMIS/DHIS2 requirements.

• Ability to maintain accurate vaccination registers, tally sheets, stock records, and beneficiary documentation.

• Good understanding of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), waste management, and injection safety standards.

• Strong communication and counselling skills to educate parents, caregivers, and communities about immunization benefits and schedules.

• Ability to work effectively with Community Health Workers (CHWs), health facility staff, and community leaders.

• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage vaccination activities effectively.

• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, are an advantage.

• Fluency in written and spoken Pashto, Dari, and English.

• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to field locations, including remote and underserved areas.

• Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, safeguarding, humanitarian principles, and accountability to affected populations (AAP).

• Working experience in the targeted provinces and familiar with concerned community, geography, and culture (Aybak, Joye Zendan, Ahengaran, Moho and Kajlar Districts)
