Background:

Afghan Community Research & Empowerment Organization for Development (ACREOD) was founded in 2010. The organization is registered with the Ministry of Economy. ACREOD is a 14-year-old national organization working to fight poverty and social injustice in Afghanistan, focusing on empowering women and girls. We work with communities to understand the roots of poverty and find innovative, local solutions. ACREOD seeks to demonstrate the results and methods used in our projects to ensure transparency and accountability and improve the quality of work.

Job Descriptions:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Needs Assessment and Asset Mapping:
    • Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify the climate-related risks and socioeconomic vulnerabilities of target communities.
    • Mapping the existing resources, skills, and economic activities within the local context.
    • Analyzing the barriers and opportunities for climate-smart livelihoods and entrepreneurship.
  2. Program Design and Implementation:
    • Developing innovative economic empowerment programs that integrate climate adaptation strategies.
    • Initiatives may include climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy enterprises, eco-tourism, and green jobs training.
    • Overseeing the implementation of these programs, ensuring they are responsive to community needs and priorities.
    • Mobilizing and managing financial and human resources to support program delivery.
  3. Capacity Building and Technical Assistance:
    • Providing training, mentoring, and advisory services to community members, especially marginalized groups.
    • Building the skills and knowledge of participants in areas such as climate-resilient practices, business management, financial literacy, and market access.
    • Connecting entrepreneurs and small-scale producers to relevant markets, supply chains, and business development services.
  4. Access to Finance and Risk Management:
    • Facilitating access to climate-smart financing options, such as green loans, microfinance, and climate insurance.
    • Supporting the development of risk transfer mechanisms and adaptive social protection measures.
    • Partnering with financial institutions, impact investors, and climate funds to unlock capital for community-led initiatives.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships:
    • Engaging with diverse community stakeholders, including local authorities, private sector actors, and civil society organizations.
    • Fostering multi-stakeholder collaborations to leverage resources, expertise, and networks.
    • Advocating for the integration of climate-smart economic empowerment into local and regional development plans.
  6. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Establishing robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track the performance and impact of programs.
    • Documenting and disseminating successful models, best practices, and lessons learned.
    • Collaborating with research institutions and networks to advance the field of climate-smart economic empowerment.

 

Job Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • University/College degree
  • a minimum of 2years of continuous professional’s experience in the relevant field.
  • Good Administration organizational and management skills and good leadership qualifications.
  • Good political knowledge of context.
  • Good report/proposal writing skills.
  • Language: Fluent in English Pashto and Dari (spoken and written).
