Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

In this regard, we have launched a program under the HELP Project Youth Component, aimed at hiring and developing young graduates. This initiative equips them with the necessary skills to succeed in future positions across various departments, while enhancing their employability in the local job market.

The program focuses on building a talent pool that is well-rounded, strengthening both technical abilities and essential behavioral/life skills. Additionally, it provides young individuals with the chance to refine their skills, share their experiences, and contribute meaningfully in a professional context.

Key objectives of the program include:

 

  • Providing young people with real-world work experience, enabling them to gain both technical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed for successful teamwork.
  • Promoting personal growth by encouraging youth to step out of their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and assume greater responsibilities.
  • Preparing young people for full-time employment by introducing them to workplace standards, expectations, and professional ethics.
  • Equip Youths with Marketable skills.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of WASH projects and activities.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting on WASH indicators and project outcomes.
  • Assist in conducting assessments and surveys to identify WASH needs and priorities in target communities.
  • Help organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops on hygiene promotion and sanitation practices.
  • Engage effectively in public health discussions to understand hygiene promotion best practices.
  • Be proficient in documentation, report preparation, and scheduling meetings. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office is beneficial.
  • Work closely with engineers and Sr. Program Officer gaining practical insights into infrastructure components of WASH projects.
  • Basic understanding of WASH principles, including water supply systems and sanitation technologies.
  • Assist field engineers in the surveying process, including understanding the basics of topographic surveys and familiarity with surveying tools (level, GPS, etc.)

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:

·      Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science, Public Health, International Development, or a related field.

·      Passion for humanitarian work and improving access to WASH services in underserved communities.

·      Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·      Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.

·      Flexibility to work in field conditions and willingness to learn new tools.

 

Experience:

·      No Experience Required- Fresh Graduate,

Competency:

  • Good communication Skills in English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Excellent interpersonal Skills.
  • Familiar with MS Office Package and Problems solving skills

·      At least basic knowledge of design software Auto-CAD.

·      Familiarity with Water GEM, Epanet, and Civil 3D.
