Islamic Relief has been working in Afghanistan for more than 23 years, providing emergency relief and implementing life-changing development projects for some of the most vulnerable people in the country. Islamic Relief set up our first Afghanistan office in 1999. Since then, IRA continued providing assistances in emergency relief, food security, livelihood, education, health, nutrition, shelter, orphan sponsorship, Ramadan and Qurbani programmes.

Job Summary

In this regard, we have launched a program under the HELP Project Youth Component, aimed at hiring and developing young graduates. This initiative equips them with the necessary skills to succeed in future positions across various departments, while enhancing their employability in the local job market.

The program focuses on building a talent pool that is well-rounded, strengthening both technical abilities and essential behavioral/life skills. Additionally, it provides young individuals with the chance to refine their skills, share their experiences, and contribute meaningfully in a professional context.

Key objectives of the program include:

 

  • Providing young people with real-world work experience, enabling them to gain both technical expertise and the interpersonal skills needed for successful teamwork.
  • Promoting personal growth by encouraging youth to step out of their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and assume greater responsibilities.
  • Preparing young people for full-time employment by introducing them to workplace standards, expectations, and professional ethics.
  • Equip Youths with Marketable skills.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

·      Assist the health team led by the Nutrition Nurse in field visits to project implementation areas to identify individuals with emergency health needs.

·      Assist in conducting awareness sessions within the community to elevate their health education and awareness levels to protect them from various diseases.

·      Assist in providing awareness to the right holders in the project area about the importance of preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases.

·      Assist in speaking on topics during awareness sessions about hygiene, seasonal diseases, and the importance of all standard virus prevention measures.

·      Assist in distributing and disseminating IEC and BCC materials during health awareness sessions to the participating right holders in gatherings.

·      Assist in screening and identifying vulnerable groups such as women, individuals with disabilities, children, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases.

·      Assist in facilitating communication and coordinating services between the provincial team and faith leaders (IMAMS), community leaders, women leaders, and youths for awareness-raising interventions.

·      Assist in creating an environment conducive to listening and discussion with target beneficiaries through one-on-one meetings and interactive sessions using IEC materials.

·      Assist in ensuring the collection of participants’ views and suggestions as feedback and recording them systematically.

·      Assist in capturing quality photos, quotes, and case studies.

 

Job Requirements:

 Fresh Graduate, 12 Grade, degree in Nursing, midwife.

 

Experience:

·      No Experience Required- Fresh Graduate

 

Competency:

  • counselling, community mobilization, coordination with stakeholders.
  • Strong Command on Pashto/Dari
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-ethnic team and take on diverse tasks.
  • familiar with concerned community, geography and culture.
