We are currently implementing UNESCO and UNICEF-funded projects in the different regions of the country.

Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position

The Project Officer will support the effective implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of project activities in Nangrahar/Nuristan Provinces, ensuring compliance with UNESCO guidelines, approved workplans, safeguarding standards, and reporting requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Implementation & Coordination
  • Support day-to-day implementation of project activities in line with the approved workplan and timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with provincial and district teams to ensure smooth delivery of SDL classes.
  • Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and Village Skills Committees (VSCs).
  • Ensure learning spaces meet UNESCO Minimum Standards for Community-Based Learning Spaces.
  • Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
  • Monitor field activities regularly and ensure quality implementation of literacy and skills training.
  • Collect, verify, and consolidate field data, including attendance, progress records, and class information.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, phase-based, and final narrative reports using UNESCO templates.
  • Ensure proper documentation (photos, GPS coordinates, signed lists, reports).
  • Staff & Facilitator Support
  • Provide technical and operational support to Community Mobilisers and SDL Facilitators.
  • Assist in organizing trainings, orientations, and in-service capacity-building sessions.
  • Ensure facilitators comply with curricula, schedules, and safeguarding standards.
  • Compliance & Safeguarding
  • Ensure adherence to UNESCO Code of Conduct, PSEA, GBV, and child safeguarding policies.
  • Support dissemination of complaint and feedback mechanisms (CFM) in all learning spaces.
  • Report any incidents, risks, or challenges promptly to management.
  • Coordination with UNESCO
  • Support coordination meetings, monitoring visits, and data sharing with UNESCO teams.
  • Ensure timely submission of required information and responses to UNESCO requests.

Job Requirements:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management, or related field (Master’s degree is an asset).

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in project implementation with NGOs or UN-supported programmes.
  • Experience in education, skills development, literacy, or livelihoods projects preferred.
  • Prior experience working in field-based or remote provinces is a strong advantage.

  • Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently in challenging field environments.
  • Good understanding of community-based programming.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and reporting tools.
  • Fluency in local languages; working knowledge of English is required.
