Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position

The Field Coordination Officer will be responsible for day-to-day field coordination, supervision, and monitoring of project activities at district and community levels, ensuring effective implementation, quality delivery, and compliance with UNESCO and ODESC standards.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Field Coordination & Supervision

  • Coordinate and oversee daily project activities in assigned districts and villages.
  • Supervise District Community Mobilisers and support SDL Facilitators in the field.
  • Ensure classes are established and conducted according to the approved workplan and schedule.
  • Coordinate closely with Village Skills Committees (VSCs), community elders, and local authorities.

Monitoring & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor class implementation, attendance, and learning environments.
  • Verify that learning spaces meet UNESCO Minimum Standards for Community-Based Learning Spaces.
  • Collect and verify field-level data including attendance sheets, learner progress, and facilitator reports.
  • Ensure GPS coordinates, photos, and documentation are accurately collected and submitted.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit regular field monitoring reports to the Project Officer.
  • Support documentation for monthly, phase-based, and donor reports.
  • Ensure timely reporting of challenges, risks, and mitigation measures.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to PSEA, GBV, child safeguarding, and UNESCO Code of Conduct requirements.
  • Support dissemination of Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) at community level.
  • Immediately report any safeguarding concerns or incidents through proper channels.

Coordination & Communication

  • Facilitate coordination between field teams and provincial management.
  • Support visits by UNESCO, donors, and senior management to project sites.
  • Promote community engagement and learner retention, particularly for women and vulnerable groups.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. (Masters Preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant field experience with NGOs or development/humanitarian projects.
  • Proven experience in community-based programming, education, or livelihoods projects.
  • Prior experience working in remote or hard-to-reach areas is a strong advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong field coordination and supervision skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with communities and local authorities.
  • Good reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in local languages; basic working knowledge of English is required.
