Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position

The Master Trainer will be responsible for designing and delivering facilitator trainings, providing on-the-job coaching, monitoring teaching quality, and ensuring that all SDL classes are delivered in line with UNESCO-approved curricula and minimum standards.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Training and Capacity Building

  • Lead Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions in coordination with UNESCO.
  • Design and deliver pre-service training for SDL facilitators and District Community Mobilizers.
  • Conduct in-service and refresher trainings during project implementation.
  • Integrate gender equality, inclusion, safeguarding, and PSEA/SEA-SH principles into all trainings.

Academic and Technical Support

  • Provide regular coaching and mentoring to facilitators through field visits.
  • Support facilitators in lesson planning, teaching methodologies, and learner assessment.
  • Ensure proper use of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs).
  • Identify learning gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Quality Assurance and Monitoring

  • Monitor class delivery and teaching quality against UNESCO minimum standards.
  • Review attendance records, lesson plans, and learner progress.
  • Provide written feedback and recommendations to facilitators and project management.

Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordinate closely with Project Manager, M&E Officer, and Community Mobilizers.
  • Support joint monitoring visits with UNESCO and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare training and monitoring reports, including observations and recommendations.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, TVET, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in adult education, literacy, TVET, or skills development programs.
  • Proven experience as a trainer of trainers or senior trainer.
  • Experience working with NGOs or UN-funded projects is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Solid understanding of adult learning methodologies.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.

Language

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Pashto/Dari and local languages is a strong advantage.
