HI has been supporting the Afghan people since 1987, starting its operations in Pakistan. Since 1996, HI has been operating across Afghanistan in order to launch victim assistance interventions, working at different levels of the society and adopting a cross-sectoral approach. While present on the ground to directly support victims of the conflict through the provision of a range of services – from physical rehabilitation, to mine risk education and inclusive livelihoods – HI has been continuously advocating to increase the rights of victims and other people with disabilities in the country. In particular, and in line with its global strategy and priorities, HI has been advocating to reduce the use of landmines and conventional weapons. Acknowledging the need to respond to the urgent emergency crises combined with longer term, chronic gaps in the provision of services, HI has steadily expanded its range of activities and services in order to support the most vulnerable people, enhancing their resilience while strengthening participation and inclusion of all individuals.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking to hire a cleaner under ITF project to assist with our team in cleaning the office and the working area of ZP and Nimroz provincial hospital. The Cleaner works within the overall structure of Handicap International (HI), the cleaner is bound by the terms and conditions of engagement for national staff and by the internal regulation.

The primary responsibility of this role is to clean up the office and working area of staff. He works under the supervision of the Supply Chain and Logistic Officer. The Office Cleaner is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the cleanliness of the concerned office and P & O workshop located in Zaranj Public hospital; equipment, furniture, floors, windows, compound building yard (ZP – IOM Compound, HI office compound) and departments specified for HI.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to: 

1. Clean all the assigned locations departments, specified for HI inside the Conex and Nimroz Hospital compound. 
2. To work closely with P & O workshop team, ZP team, which are located in ZP – IOM compound and in Zaranj public hospital especially with all partners and also with HI main office colleagues under the supervision of the Logistic officer.
3. Maintain cleaning equipment and materials in good and clean condition.
4. Assist office in moves of furniture /equipment when required
5. Wash and repair the curtains, blankets, pillow covers and bed sheets when required
6. Keep clean windows, doors, glasses and walls
7. Empty wastebaskets daily.  Prepare for scheduled trash pick-up. Remove equipment boxes and shipping containers for storage or disposal as directed.
8. Clean the bathrooms every day or whenever required and ensure that toilet paper and soap is  available in the toilets
9. Assist drivers in loading and unloading of vehicles when required
10. Respect the duty schedule assigned by the line manager
11. Report the abnormal cases happening in the workshop to the line manager
12. To give the correct information or direction to the clients towards related section if required
13. Inform the line manger about things that need to be repaired or maintained
14. Prevent any person (relative of patient) from outside, entering the sections
15. Any other tasks not mentioned in the terms of reference and based on the requisition of the employee when requested by the line manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Basic Education and graduate from 12 Class is preferred
2. Comprehensive knowledge of hygienic principles
3. Have 2 years’ experience in the cleaning.
4. Able to speak Pashto and Dari

Desirable:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of hygienic principles. 
2. Having good communication skills
3. Ability to work in a team
