Afghanistan, with Registration Number 4388 dated February 18, 2018. SSEOA works in the

fields of education, health, and livelihood in the remote regions of Afghanistan. SSEOA envisions creating educational opportunities for girls and women to grow, thrive, and prosper. SSEOA works to empower communities in Afghanistan through education, especially for girls, promotes peace through education, and conveys the importance of these activities all around the country. Our mission is to empower Afghans, especially girls and women in the remote regions of Afghanistan by creating educational opportunities and livelihood skills because SSEOA has a firm belief that without educating girls, peace and prosperity is not possible.

SSEOA boasts a team of highly qualified professionals renowned for their discipline, organization, efficiency, and extensive tenure within both national and international organizations. The team is spearheaded by an Executive Body comprising the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Program Director, Finance Manager, and Program Manager, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. At the helm of strategic governance stands SSEOA's Board of Directors, comprising five distinguished members renowned for their extensive experience working with the government and NGO sector.

Job Descriptions:

Position Summary:

The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in implementing and overseeing the Community-Based Education (CBE) and Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs. The role involves working closely with the Project Manager, field teams, community stakeholders, and government entities to ensure the successful delivery of these programs, aiming to provide quality education and development opportunities to children in underserved communities.

Responsibilities:

              Program Implementation and Coordination:

  • Support Program Rollout: Collaborate with the Project Manager to plan and execute all aspects of the CBE and ECD program implementation, ensuring alignment with the project’s objectives and timelines.
  • Site Assessment: Conduct assessments of potential CBE and ECD sites, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria for safety, accessibility, and suitability for educational activities.
  • Teacher Recruitment and Training: Assist in the recruitment of qualified teachers and facilitators for CBE and ECD programs. Organize and conduct training sessions to enhance their teaching skills and capacity to deliver quality education.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities to promote the importance of CBE and ECD. Facilitate the establishment of Community Advisory Boards to involve community members in the program’s development and sustainability.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Monitoring Program Activities: Regularly monitor the progress of CBE and ECD activities on the ground, ensuring they are conducted according to the approved plan and addressing any challenges that arise.
  • Impact Evaluation: Conduct periodic evaluations of the CBE and ECD programs to assess their impact on children's educational outcomes and overall community well-being. Provide recommendations for improvement based on findings.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of all program activities, including attendance, progress reports, and impact assessments. Ensure data is collected systematically and filed correctly for easy access and analysis.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed reports on the progress, challenges, and achievements of the CBE and ECD programs to the Project Manager, ensuring timely communication with relevant stakeholders and donors.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct training needs assessments for program staff, teachers, and community educators in collaboration with Teacher Trainers. Identify areas for professional development and capacity building.
  • Design and Deliver Training: Develop and implement training programs for beneficiaries, teachers, and caregivers based on the identified needs, ensuring that they are equipped to support the educational and developmental needs of children.
  • Evaluate Training Outcomes: Regularly assess the effectiveness of the training programs delivered, adjusting content and methods as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Liaison with Government and Partners: Coordinate with relevant government departments, including the Provincial Education Department and the Department of Economy, to ensure the program is aligned with national education policies and standards.
  • Partnership Development: Foster relationships with local NGOs, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen program delivery and create synergies for community development.
  • Support for Other Programs: Assist the unit head and other project teams in implementing additional educational programs, and sharing insights and best practices from the CBE and ECD initiatives.

Field Operations and Supervision:

  • Field Visits: Conduct regular field visits to CBE and ECD sites to oversee the implementation of activities, provide support to field staff, and address any on-site issues promptly.
  • On-Site Supervision: Monitor the day-to-day activities at CBE and ECD centers, ensuring they adhere to project standards and protocols. Share findings with the Project Manager to drive continuous improvement.
  • Community Support: Act as a resource for community members, offering guidance and support to enhance their participation and ownership of the CBE and ECD programs.

Other Duties:

  • Flexible Support: Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager or unit head to contribute to the overall success of the project.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest developments in CBE and ECD practices, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance program delivery.

Job Requirements:

Qualification:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in an educational management role, preferably within a school or community-based education program.
  • Strong knowledge of the Afghan education system, including curriculum and teaching standards.
  • Experience in teacher supervision, classroom management, and student assessment.
  • Proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto; knowledge of English is an asset.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in rural or conflict-affected areas.
  • Understanding of child protection policies and inclusive education practices.

    Work Conditions:

  • Based in Kabul Province with regular visits to schools and education centers.
  • May require working beyond regular hours to meet program deadlines or handle emergencies.

 Skills:

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with teachers, students, parents, and local authorities.
